when i try to resize my drive c using partitionmagic i get an error msg " error 27: cannot lock drive" . i want to decrease the size of drive c and extend drive D.....how do i fix this problem?
IF i remember correctly, error 27 means that your drive cannot be locked because it's being used... I don't know if regular partition magic can be run at boot, but using it before windows boots up would seem to be the way to go...
If that can't be done, search google for Hiren's BootCD, it has several partition managers (including partition magic) that can be booted from the cd.
ok thankx buddy... i m downloading hiren's boot v8.0 but i have no idea how to use it .. can u please show me step by step how to resize my drive c without getting that error that would be a great help to me.

Well, you where already told how to use partition magic by someone,
so all i'll tell you is that you burn the .iso for hiren's boot cd to a cd with Nero, IMGburn, or whatever you usually use (i think you might even be able to do it with DVD Decrypter if necessary), then put the cd in after completion, restart, choose to boot from the cd, go to partition tools, select Partition magic, and from there use the instructions you where given before.
If you have Spyware Doctor installed, as I did, this is the culprit causing the Error 27. Uninstall it, as I did, and PM will happily resize your C partition.
