How is it illigal and it would be shut down when there are Pre-Mods for Playstation 2, Gamecube, and XBOX everywhere and they were never and still arent shut down?

Well the thing is that mod chip sites and stuff have to somehow get some permission to sell mod chips for systems because it's pretty much illegal to hack files on a gaming system! Nobody has the slightest permission to sell hacked chips for the Xbox 360. Like the guy that works at Microsoft said, it was something like the Xbox 360's security system won't be crackable by hackers. They know plenty of people are going to try and hack their system, and they try to prevent that!

Yea they try to prevent it but it won't last much longer. But I was really surprised how long the gamecube held up. Maybe they should learn from them

I almost think Gamecube held so long because hackers were more focused on perfecting things with PS2 and Xbox rather than messing with Gamecube. The fact it didn't use DVDs probably slowed things up a little too.

I agree with membock. Probably nobody bothered to work too hard to mod the cube, it was such a worthless console. You had one must have game on it, Windwaker. Most verything else was kiddie caca

The people saying you have to have permission from the company don't know what there talking about.They didn't have permission for the ps2,xbox,and gamecube and they still did it.

well the thing is their selling a hacked BIOS installed to a chip which is whats illegal, to sell a modchip that doesnt actually modify micosoft/sony/whoever's stuf isnt illegal (in most countrys) . BIOS hack is a hack of microsofts property, distributing the BIOS and/or its hack is illegal, its easy to do the hack yourself ive done it on my mate 360 and it works perfect, search bittorent files for the hack files.

Good point andrew, but at the same time you had boot disc's which modified the bios(and I use that word loosely...get it)which was the property of sony,ms,nintendo..etc. people have been hacking this stuff for a long time and it was always illegal.

firmware though is not a good hack anyways because it will be patched or you will be banned from online gaming.I understand the difference between a firmware hack and a hardware mod chip.But there will be a real hack eventually not just a firmware exploit.It's still to early though.
