I have been backing up games for my ps2 for a while now but waited until recently to try going online with them. After setting up my ps2's network config successfully and the tests checked out fine, I booted up a copy of TimeSplitters 3, and logged onto the network.
At this time, I was unaware of the complications involved in playing backups online, and the game froze at the 'Checking DN@S' screen, at which point the music started skipping and I was forced to shut off my PS2.
After some research, I patched the DN@S code and re-burned the game. Only now, my PS2 doesn't connect. After trying to set up my network config again, i get the message 'connection timed out', when only hours before everything worked fine.
My router shows that the connection to the ps2 is established, but somehow it won't connect.
I read that Sony will occasionally ban users that are using invalid DN@S codes. Now, I assume that it is possible that Sony banned me after 1 unsuccessful connection to their server, but I find it extremely unlikely.
Is there a way to tell if I'm banned from the network or if it's just some other strange problem?

It doesnt say "connection timed out" if you get banned.

Try reseting your network then reconnecting.

1. No-one has ever been banned by using a DNA$ patched backup

2. Sony has nothing to do with TimeSplitters, its an EA game, and you connect to EA servers.

3. People with routers have always had connection problems with any EA game, due to the specific way you have to configure/open ports & set DMZ.

4. If you can connect directly, these problems will disappear.

Always 1st with 100% working PS2 Online Game DNA$ IDs!!

yup, for some reason everything just starting working again. Thanks for clearing up all my worries on being banned, it would have really been a big disappointment.
i heard somewhere that if the DN@S doesn't check out when logging on, that sometimes you are unable to connect for several hours. right now, i'm guessing this was the case with me, but who knows? whenever i come across these network-type problems, they always seem to start working again for no apparent reason.
