Hello,

sorry to rouble U all, but I would like some help with choosing the best DVD burner for myself.

I mostly will be burning ISO and other types of DVD images, copy my data, copy my DVD movies and that is all. I might use it for some PS disks copying if it is possible.
What I need is a very good accurate burning, high compatibility, very good recognition of media and good protection and error correction.
I have really good CD burner so I don't need the DVD to burn CDs.

I heard that Pioneer, NEC are the best ones.
What about Sony??

Could U specify some really good models please??
I will be buying not in USA so I dont know the prices, so I will check that for availibility and price and update :)

Thanks for help :)

A lot of Sony's are rebadged Lite-Ons and BenQ's. I would stick with NEC 3550, BenQ DW1650 or 1655 or Plextor 716a.

This Plextor is a bit too expensive for me (in the country I would buy it) but those NEC and BenQ are OK.

Is there any other difference between 1650 and 1655 except Lightscribe??

For $15 more you can have lightscribe if you ever want to try it out...no difference between the drives.

Not saying you shouldn't get it, just that the 1650 is cheaper. As LOCOENG stated, if you want to try out LS, go for the 1655.

Lightscribe has its pluses and minuses (no pun intended). For example, you can make neat looking labels, but on the other hand it can take up to a 1/2 hour (or more) to burn them, depending on the label. Personally, I had hoped for the images and/or text to be darker as well. Simply put, lightscribe isn't for me. I decided to stick with a Sharpie for labeling in the interest of time.

Hence, I recommended the 1650, as I'll probably never use the LS feature in my 1655. Hope this helps :)

LOL...I know I've had my eye on one for about 3 weeks now. Waiting on a 3 day sale, maybe it will be even cheaper then. I don't really need another burner (got 3 already), but I'd love to take that one for a spin.
