Are you looking to build a pc or get an allready made one?

If you're looking to get a ready made one then the next question would be Mac or pc?
Im guessing PC.

Do you have any preferences to certain pc makes: hp,dell,compaq...?I would go with HP (they have the better reputation).
And the final question:What are you going to use you're pc for?

Please answer these questionsand then I'll gieve you some ideas.

Ok I have a Dell right now and I like it but I seen some nice looking HP media center pcs and Tv so either a dell or hp media center pc for sure and it will be used for gaming (just one game) counter strike and burning dvd movies and downloading music and that about it.

To be honest most modern computers would do the job for what you want.

It's more a question of price thing now.

I'll try and find a good pc for under a 1000$ for you.

oh yea and I want it to have a lot of room on it because my computer now always says low disc space and its gonna have to hold a lot of songs and my game and limewire and those three things take up a lot of room does that mean I need a big hard drive or a lot of memory I don't know about this stuff. Thx

we'll from the information you have told me.
you should be looking for a AMD processor(there good for games.better then Intel.)probably minimum a 3000+.

You will probably need 1 GB of RAM(for games and stuff)And as i said before:it doesn't matter the brand Ram's all the same.

You don't seem like the type that upgrades there computer much so you would be OK with minimum a 754 socket(but 939 would be better).

To be honest I don't know much about graphic cards but when you're purchasing at the store just say you play games and they will recommend a decent graphic card.

And get a 200 GB hard drive drive(that should do you fine).

MY advice:go into the closest big PC store in you're area and tell them you would like a computer with the above components then get the name of the computer they recommended with the above components and go and buy it of the net for a better price.

i dont know that much about graphics cards either but he said all he was going to play was counter strike, that game doesnt require a very high end graphics card at all i know this becuse i have the game and i can play it on my very basic 4 year old computer and my laptop which everyone knows isnt very good for gaming but if he is going to play other games he might want to get a nicer card but just for counter strike i basic one should do

@ bunny_c- ram is not all the same! you should stay away from no name brands and stick with the value lines of kingston, corsair, geLl and Ocz.

Intel C2D E8400|Asus P5Q Pro|Diamond Radeon HD 4850|WD 640GB SATA 2| Pioner DVR-215BK|2GB Corsair PC 6400| Corsair HX-520|Antec Three Hundred

I'm not recommending he buys it from the market, but in general ,all ram is identical.Whatever brand name, RAM all contains the same thing and has the same function. But, yes, OK ,don't go buying your RAM from Chinatown, go into a known PC store and they will give you decent RAM ,whatever the brand.

PS:I bought some RAM from a reputed PC store and they gave me what i needed but the price was 160 euros(this was before i new you could get it for half the price). The RAM works fine and the brand isn't very known(Dane-elec).That just goes to show that having Ram with a brand name isn't essentiel, but some people do have preferences.
