Yeah, MPC's internal subtitle renderer only works with VMR7/9 renderless and Haali's renderer. The settings are in options, under output.

Hi,

You may need to download and install VobSub, the foremost subtitle utility. You can find it here:

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/subtitle_tools/v...

Next, make sure your subtitle files are named exactly like the corresponding video files. E.g. "PulpFiction.avi" (video) and "PulpFiction.srt" (sub). Common subtitle extensions are .sub and .srt. Make sure the subtitles and video files are in the same folder.

Then, simply play the video with MPC. VobSub will automatically open and show subtitles.

Good luck!

If you are going to use directvobsub, I wouldn't recommend an old version from 2001. Directvobsub became part of VSFilter some years ago.

You don't need it anyway. As I said, MPC contains a built in subtitle renderer. Fact is though that Gabest wrote directvobsub and MPC and they both share a lot of code.
