Preperations:

Okay. First of all, you shouldn't use a crossover cable. I am not sure if a crossover cable will work, it probably will, but I know for a fact that a regular (straight-through) ethernet cable will work.

Editing Xbox Options:

Once you have established the connection between your Xbox and your computer, go to Network Settings in your Dashboard. Make sure FTP is enabled, the IP is set to DHCP, and you know the FTP User and Password. (The default is U:xbox, P:xbox. i suggest leaving them this). If there is a reset FTP option, i suggest doing that. Also if there is a restart Network option, you could do that.

Editing Computer Options:

Some firewall programs may block the FTP server. I suggest disabling any thing like that just to make sure your computer is allowing you to FTP.

Connecting:

There are multiple ways to FTP. I personally use Internet Explorer becasue it elimantes the hassle of using an FTP program. Open IE, and in the addess bar type FTP://XBOX:XBOX@Your.I.P.Address. Whatever IP Address is shown under Network Settings on your Dashboard is the IP you use.

EX:

Under Network Settings on your Dashboard:

IP. 192.168.0.192
Type: DHCP
DNS: 192.168.1.1

Under IE Address Bar:

ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.0.192 (PRESS ENTER OR GO).

Now you will be viewing the Partions on your Xbox.

I hope this was helpful. I am also going to post about the Halo maps.

Accessing Halo2 Maps!

Ftp to your xbox. You can use an FTP client (such as FlashFXP) or
Internet Explorer.

(For IE: type in the adress bar : ftp://xbox:xbox@YOURIPADRESS)

Navigate to: E/TDATA/4d530064/$c

This folder contains 3 subfolders:

4d53006400000001 contains - Warlock and Containment
4d53006400000002 contains - Turf and Sanctuary
4d53006400000003 contains - Backwash, Elongation, Terminal,
Gemini, and Relic

Note: All maps are in .map format. Also, the names of some of the files do not correspond with map's actual name. Here is the names of all the maps.

Warlock - Warlock.map
Containment - Containment.map
Turf - Turf.map
Sanctuary - Deltatap.map
Backwash - Backwash.map
Elongation - Elongation.map
Terminal - Triplicate.map
Gemini - Gemini.map
Relic - Dune.map

As you can see, the map files for Sanctuary, Terminal, and Relic have
different names.

Well, enjoy!

I am using a cross over cable becaush I ain't using a switch or hub and when I select DHCP my IP address gets changed to 0.0.0.0. I heard if you are connecting directly from xbox to pc using a network card and ethernet cable you need a cross over cable.

I did as you said and still no luck.

Okay first of all, you do not need a crossover cable! Simply direct connect the xbox to your computer's network card.

To direct connect to your computer from your xbox you need a Crossover Cable........If you want to connect wirelessley then you need a wireless adapter and an Ethernet Cable....

Ok so if you have your Crossover cable connected to your computer and xbox you want to go into Network connections and Bridge Local Internet Connection and your Main connection...you will then be connected to your xbox.
Edit for spelling
