Everyone on this thread knows that if Nintendo were in this business to please everyone they would have come out with some bull**** system that relies upon pure pixel power and third-party developers to win it's bread. We know Satoru Iwata does what he wants and he is the driving force at Nintendo. Nintendo made 9.35 billion dollars last year. So lets jump off of their balls and start bashing someone else because in the end Nintendo will still be standing no matter how many times they shoot themselves in the foot with "ingenuity"

I think all 3 systems have their pros and cons, and I don't think that any of them is a "bull**** system". (That doesn't mean I'm buying all of them, though.)

I do agree that Iwata is an important Nintendo driving force, and I look forward to what the man will do with Nintendo. The DS was already a huge surprise, and I'm sure the Wii will be no different.

"Gameboy made the money not that piece of poo called the gamecube'

You know I love ya buddy but I have to disagree. The gamecube only sold slightly less than the original xbox( which people make such a big deal about.)

fuxorated :wtf are you talking about in your last one,I won't even quote from it? So here is from your original post.

"Nintendo made 9.35 billion dollars last year. So lets jump off of their balls and start bashing someone else because in the end Nintendo will still be standing no matter how many times they shoot themselves in the foot with "ingenuity"

Are you sure? Everyone knows I love the nintendo but this will be their last console if it's not successful.

No it won't. This is a rumor that continues to surface no matter how many times Nintendo claims this rumor is false. Earlier this year, Perrin Kaplan said that Nintendo could handle around 4 consecutive "failures" before the company would begin to worry about financial well-being. Furthermore, considering the company made a profit on the "failure" gamecube, I think that gives you a good idea of where the company is.

Nintendo isn't in financial trouble.

Making money doesn't mean it was not a failure. It was a failure because they let Nintendo fans down. I paid top dollar for a Gamecube only to get a new game to play once every 3 months or so. Lets name the big hits, Zelda.....uhhhh, Mario was a step back.... any other ground breaking games like the PS2?? I can't think of much. That is why it was a huge failure. That is why the PS2 beat the living piss out of them. They let everyone down. They ripped everyone off and now everyone is gonna jump back on their bandwagon?? Not so fast my friend......

oofrome : Should I remind you of sega,atari,3d0..etc.Those companies were once mighty.I guarantee you if nobody is buying their products(not something i ever claimed)no company in their right mind will keep making them.

Ttownkln: I know what you mean but to be only slightly behind ms in console sales is no small thing.Everyone acts like ms is taking over but really their just taking loss after loss.Their the least in total sales on that chart. As far as nintendo taking a step back I liked the new metroid and mario cart and many others.I think nintendo leans on mario a little to much though.Soon we will have a title like "mario poka dancing".Lol.

but the difference between nintendo and sega/atari/etc is nintendo isn't financial trouble like sega was. Sega didn't even have the money to fully market the dreamcast, even though the DC sold pretty solid that first year.
I mean you're right that no company would continue selling something that no one is buying, obviously, but my point is that even if the wii flops, nintendo will still have the money to put out another console, just how MS handled a 4billion dollar loss with the Xbox investment, and just how Sony's allocates money to continue funding the playstation franchise.

TTownKlwn: while I wouldn't consider the price of the Gamecube "top dollar", you are right that the gamecube let down a lot of people. Still, though, I know a lot of people who were dissappointed with the ps2 and the xbox. The market is fairly fluid, and not everyone sticks to a company like most of us on this forum do, so I think the Wii will sell pretty well, especially after such a terrific performance at e3.

There's no need to fear, I have a feeling the Wii will sell at least twice as many systems if not more than it's predecessor, the gamecube

How exactly were the PS2 games groundbreaking? Granted, there are many good games, but they weren't exactly surprising or amazing in any particular way... Most of them were just *insert franchise name here* 2 or Final Fantasy. Which has been steadily rolling down a hill of crap since ~6-8

Shadow of the Colossus was really good. Though if you played ICO you knew what to expect. I never tried God of War though.
