Hello everybody. I downloaded clocktower 3 and burned it with alcohol. But when I try to run it on my console it says not a ps2 disk.
I am trying to burn a mds and a mdf file using alcohol. I also followed the directions posted on how to do this from ur website and from xtreme-source. I have the following information for you.
ps2 version 4
swapmagic 3.6,hd advance 2.0 and 3.0.
no solder mod chip
flip top lid.
Media being used: cd-r teon 52x.tdk cd-r 52x.memorex black cd-r 40x.and dvd-r brand dont know (forgot). Some one point me in the right direction on how to burn and extract using alcohol and whatever is necessary to complete this.

Right off the bat, u need to use better media, and the 52X (didnt even know there was media writable at this speed) disks are gonna give u a lot of coasters (Memorex=NO). The ps2 laser is a picky b@stard, and good media will make all the differnece from a coaster and a reliable backup.
Also, u r buring correctly, that is not the problem, so find some good quality cd-rs and dvd-rs (I recommend taiyo yuden, never had a bad burn).
PS. I hope u own an original copy of clocktower 3, cause piracy talk is a no no:)

No offense aberod, but that is an incorrect statement. Media matters more than anything.
@ Demetri: Have you tried converting it from CD to DVD yet??

yeah, the media does matter. While you can get it to work, bad media will wear out your lens quicker than quality media..

One word (actually 2 LOL) DVD Decrypter. Gods gift to ps2 haha:)
Dvd Decrypter can be kinda hard 2 find(google it, it will show up), so u can also go with Nero (get it on the aD homepage)

roxas, are u trying to create a cd or dvd backup? Also, what kind of media are u using? If u are making a DVD backup, use DVD Decrypter, using the following steps:
1. Create an ISO by going to mode->ISO->read
2. Push the graphic on bottem of screen.
3. When done, go back to mode->ISO->write, change the write speed to 4X, put the dvd in(duh), and under source, use the mds(or mdf) file as the source. Click on the graphic, there you go.
If u are trying to make a cd backup (not 2 many on the ps2) use Nero:
1.Use the cd-rom(ISO) the first choice I believe.
2.Create on ISO, but do not do it on-the-fly
3.Insert the cd-r and ur copy(4X again)
Let me know how it turns out:)
And remember, the quality of media u use makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE. Imation and Memorex will get u nowhere fast.
PS - U have a mod chip right? None of these methods will work unless used in conjunction with a chip, swap magic....

err roxas008 it might help if you say what mod you have, what media you use, at what speed you burn, and even what game it is.

1.Piracy chat is not allowed
2.You must have a mod of some type to play backups

why would people pay money to get their system modded or buy swap magic discs if there was a way to do it free?

nope.. you cannot play backups without some type of loader and swap trick, or a chip. First you have to get the PS2 to think it's loading an authentic game (what swapmagic or chip is for) Then swapmagic stops spinning, and you've got to be able to get to the disk without the PS2 knowing it's open. A long time ago, there were a few games that had "sweet spots" that if you opened it fast enough and replace it, you could swap it with another game and it would load, but those are pretty much things of the past now.

@roxas, u can actually play backup dvd movies in ur ps2 without any mods. As for media, DVD-R works best in my ps2, DVD+R should also be fine though, u just gotta test different types out till u find what ur ps2 likes.
