I just bought a new laptop today (Compaq Presario V4305EA) and have been trying to hook it up with the internet. It is WiFi certified and I was told it would be easy to get it working with my existing wireless network. I can't though and don't know what to do.

The only mention of wireless on the spec is: 54g? 802.11b/g WLAN

I have a belkin router which I am using, and 2 PCs hooked up to that network already.

Any suggestions? It is not showing there as being any wireless connections around at all...

Yeah, it is a wireless router. The thing is, I tried adding the laptop to the wireless network but that didn't work. Its just not even showing the router as an option to use to connect to the net, even though I have the laptop less than a metre away from it.

Do you have the router set to broadcast the SSID? As a security option; you may have disabled this. Check your wireless settings.

Hi, is the wireless turned on? If you use the windows wireless configuration utility and it says there are no networks available( and there is), you probably dont have the wireless adapter enabled on the notebook.

Look for a button or switch somewhere on the front of the notebook.

Go here and get the manual......http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&cc=uk&dlc...
