Quicktime audio playback stutters

every time i try to get quicktime to play an mp3 (for example - when i click on one on a website) the audio is choppy and stuttery. same happens with videos - only the sound thats affected though

ive tried lots of things - changing to waveout only, the quick time alternatives, just removed every single codec on my computer and then re-installed as to the guide on here.

its nothing to do with my connection - as files run off my HD still do it.

i cant find anything anywhere on the net - the only thing i ever get told is to change to safe mode (waveout) which doesnt work.

itunes works fine with no problems

so im not entirely sure what the problem is. ive uninstalled/re-installed quick time hundreds of times and tried all different version along with it

anyways

any help would be appreciated
