I recently bought a V14 slim ps2 and so far it has not been able to play a backup for more than 15 mins at a time and its also not playing my backup DVD movies (it gives the message "Unable to Read disc" or "Play halted due to malfunction")..I do not think the media that I'm using is the problem because my old ps2 plays my all my copied discs fine. I usually use Sony or Maxell DVD+R's. Are the new ps2 system lasers just not cut out for copied discs?? please help! thanx..

This may sound stupid but is your PS2 modded ? ANd the only media that my ps2 will play is Taiyo Yuden, it wont even work with these 16x DVD+r verbatims booktyped to DVD-rom, so maybe you should try Taiyo Yuden? Also your using +r's are they booktyped for DVD-Rom becasue if theyre not the ps2 wont play them so well. If your burer cant booktype use DVD-Rs

just went out and bought a new one, v14 70005 had the darned piece of metal where the third key is supposed to go, but I got it jimmied in there with a screwdriver and some super glue.. one thing I was experiencing before I glued it down, is that little metal piece would sometimes move the key off the switch it holds down, but upon opening the case it would set itself back on it.. maybe your key is wiggling? Everything workings fine for me, been playing my copy of Gun for about 4 hours now on Sony 8x's, burned at 8x, like I burn everything..

I used selotape on both switches and use Swap Magic on my slimline, works great. Use Verbatim 8x and burn at 2x and I've successfully backed up 85+ PS2 games which all run flawlesly.

Well if you would have taped them you could have sent it back to Sony to be replaced. But if you glued the pieces in then you will have to find a local shop that will work on PSTwo's and have them repair it.

I'm not sure, Steimy, the warranty will still have been void through opening it up.

Mik3h, yeah i forgot it was V14 LOL
there is just no way around it with anything but a V12
so why not just go all the way and get a good modchip.

i figured out why my games were skipping and freezing...simply: rebuilding conquers all!! anyone who is having the same trouble with skipping and freezing games...believe me...rebuilding the game works like magic! (at least for me)

rebuilding a game will SOMETIMES work.
Using bad media can cause the same problem and no rebuilding will fix that.

Taiyo Yudens are great discs so you should be fine.
As long as the DVD+R are not causing problems.
You should check into the "booktype" feature and see if your burner can do it. IF it can then you booktype a DVD+R to a DVD-Rom and it will be even more compatible.

There isn't too much of a different between Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden, eh Steimy?
