Is there any other program to run in the background besides Anydvd that will scramble the copyright protection on my dvd's? I don't get why when you buy a dvd and you own it already why they would put a copyright on it. They don't want us backing up our own dvd's now or what?

No other program needed to run in the background to remove the copy protection. AnyDVD and CloneDVD are the best out there right now.
Just keep it updated - AnyDVD has frequent updates to keep on top it.
They never have wanted us to back up our own - would rather you buy it again if something happens. There is fair use laws but somewhat gray area.
I'll see if I can find some of Ireland's posts to get you a better answer.

CSS+Region Free and DVD43 both run in the background BUT either are anywhere close as good as anydvd

plus they are more apps with low updates if not any and longer process... = more complicated .

just buy AnyDVD and CloneDVD 2 and enjoy the best...

dvdxcopy was the best until it got pulled over by law . i think they made a new one except renamed it dvd next copy .... anyways it off topic but it had a goo backup conpressor ... only bad side to it , was very expensive and i hated the : this is a back up " and so foruth....

the copy protection was always on dvds lol
