Heya to all the UK users if your looking cheap DVD-R Tesco sell really cheap DVD-R £8.98 infact for a pack of 25!!! but im not sure if they are good quality but there seriously cheap.

and if you check the id of these discs with DVD Decrypter, then have a look in the media sticky they come out in the crap section

they make media guides for people like you who just won't take the good advice of someone who actually knows what they are talking about. Go ahead and buy those cheap discs and see what happens.
I can save you the trouble and tell you.
1. they will not work
2. if they do work the cheap dye will wear out in 1-2 years time and the disc will no longer work
3. and option 3, my personal favorite, it will cause your PS2 laser a lot of stress and burn out your laser much quicker.

So go ahead and spend less money on your cheap discs then spend $50 + install + shipping to replace your laser a year or two from now.

One thing i just can not stand is people who come here asking advice, then mouth off at people with things like
"and how would you kno"
when people give them some correct and solid adive.

you find out the quality by getting the media code off the package, or from looking at a site online that sells media that actually gives you those codes. Then looking on the media guide.
A good online site will give you the media code because they know it is important information. Stay away from sites that will not provide them. If you go to a store and the package doesn't have a media code then the only way to know is to buy them and use a media ID program or DVD Decrypter to get it off one of the discs, but by then you have bought them and it is too late.
Just search "blank media UK" and you will find plenty of online sites.

I can get a pack of Taiyo Yuden's for £5 for a 25 spindle at my local PC supply store. Another store is selling RITEK's 50 for £13. If you go to dedicated PC stores, you'll pick up DVDs much cheaper than at Tesco
