i would like to back up the first disk (1 of 3)i try nero to make an image so i can mount with deomon tools.nero wont leave me is says read error.can i use alcohol 120%or is there some thing stoping nero from making me an image.if there is a way to back up this first disk with alcohol 120 please tell me how to do so and how to set it up thanks.this is a pc game .or is there a patch i can download ?

what type of file is it that you are trying to burn? are they nib/cue files or something?
can you post an image of the files you are trying to back up.
The only PC game i backed up was Post Mortem which was a 2 disc set, both were bin/cue files so i just used Nero to burn each cue file to a CD and that was it. Alcohol 120% may also be able to burn them.
For more accurate help you need to say what type of files they are.

thanks for your help
i installed all three cds and key ,but when i want to run the game it askes for the 1st cd>>>>>>i have to give these back lol.i am trying to copy the first disk!then if i was able to copy it i could put it to another cd or to hard drive and mount the image with deamon tools .i dont know what type of files are on there .Nero says read error

here are the files its a cd thats for sure .dvd decrypter says not dvd is there a any way in the world to copy this disk!!!!!!! or make an image that i could mount or is it impossible!!!!!!! .thanks in advance

hopefully now with the pic someone can help you. With those files i am not sure. You may just be able to back them up as a data disc.
I have only seen them in Bin/Cue (CD) or ISO (DVD)format
Was that what you had after you used WinRAR on what you downloaded?
And not to be a pest can you post the downloaded file/files too or did you already delete them. Sometimes if WinRAR has ISO or other files that it associated with, then people think they are rar files and use WinRAR to decompress them and get the game files. But if the file was not associated with WinRAR then it would look different and could be an ISO file or Bin/Cue files.
In other words if the files are associated with WinRAR when they should not be then people take it one step too far and actually extract the file they were suppose to burn into the actual game files.

i didnt download anything ,these are not win rar files .i borowed this game from someone 3 disk set installed all 3 cds and key.but when i try to run game it askes for first cd.thats why i want to back up the first cd.the pic is with the 1st cd in drive and i selected open so i could show these files.i have done some games before but never ran in to this problem.with nero u should be able to copy this disk to another cd but it wont leave me .......like i said if you go to icon on desktop and try to open and put first cd in it works fine/>>>>>thats why i would like to back up first disk.

just made a data disk of those files with nero and put it in to a cd. they are exactly as the origonal .and i try to fire up game and it says insert correct cd rom > i dont get it same as origonal but no go.i am stumped ???????

OK, then in that case. If you have the original discs you can just
use the functions under Nero Startsmart's CD tab
You should just be able to use the "copy disc" function.
It should then make an exact copy of the original disc.
If i had some blank CD's i would try it and let you know if it works, but pretty much everything i back up is a DVD based games for a console like PS2 or Xbox
And just so i know for sure, the game does say compact disc on it, correct? That would mean it is a CD game for sure.

The easisest way is to:
Download Alchol 120%
Make an ISO
Patch the Iso so you can run it off the disk
Burn the Iso using Alchol 120%
Done.
And for god sake please post your pc problems in the correct bloody forum i mean how hard is it!

@steimy it dosent say if its a cd rom or not .but if you try to use say dvd decrypter is says not dvd.and i tried using copy cd in nero it wont leave me do it .

sorry neptune. I am just not real good with the PC games as i do not do them. So i was just throwing out some ideas

Ok even though you posted in the completly wrong forum this is how you can make a backup of your game:
Download Alchol 120%
Then you place the Cd in your drive
You then click image making wizard
You then follow that through clicking next wherever needed
You then find the Image you have made
You then look over the web for a Iso fixer patch for this game.
I cannot give you a link directly but do a google for it and it will come up.
You then go to Alchol 120%.
you then click image burning wizard.
You put in your media
Burn
then once finished voilla youve made a backup!

thanks i made image with alcohol 120 and mounted the image with deamon tools and now i need that iso fixer but cant find it .i think game will work if i patch it and keep image mounted .or will the game ever work?

you may just want to check a few sites and fiond a version that comes with the patch or comes already patched. It would be easier.
But if someone copied it and uploaded it. then i am sure there is a way to make it work.

i got it to work .nero made me an image i mounted image with deamon tools,then grabed 2 dll files and the auto run file and dumped them into install folder (from the mounted image).game fires up great .only one thing is if you want to play it again you have to chose eject tray of image then hit load tray to play a 2nd time. at last i got it. took a while this is one of the worst backups i have ever messed with.thanks to all for all there help

PC games can be a bit more involved than PS2 for sure.
But if you get them from a good site that has them in the correct format (Bin/Cue) then it is a simple burn job.

yes i see what u mean . i have downloaded many games and just install and then mount the image to make it work.battle field vietnam of course was a 3 cd game and just a nightmare to get the first cd to be burnt or mounted.
