I have been using Nero 6 reloaded for DVD burning for some time with great results but I cannot get it to work with CD's.
I have tried with Nero Burning ROM and Nero Express. I can load a pre recorded CD and a blank one. As soon as I select 'Burn' the programme closes back to the Start Smart interface. I have checked that the discs are not copy protected and also tried on a different PC with the same results. I have tried to also save to the HD first. I have been able to use Easy CD Creator with no problems. I have not installed any new programmes.
Any ideas would be welcome.
Thanks

I believe this is Roxio program, it conflicts with Nero and both should not be on computer together......without seeing a log file I would guess this is the problem. Run this zapper to remove Roxio http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml
or you could post a log file of your failed burn from here Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

Thanks for your reply. I should have mentioned that Nero and Roxio were not installed at the same time. I installed Roxio just to see if I could burn the CD's as the problem was only with Nero when it was the only programme installed. Also I cannot post a failed log file as Nero does not get that far. It literaly closes down as soon as 'Burn' is selected.

Do you know which version of Nero6 you are using, some contain bugs. You must have at least 1 log file at that location that you can post.

Hi, I am using the latest version 6614. I cannot attach a log file as nothing happens to generate one. There are no error messages or any indication that Nero is doing anything, it just closes back to the interface. I have tried using Burning ROM and Nero Express with the same results.

Hi again. Thanks for your tip. I have now installed version 6.6.0.18 and the burn process is working fine.
Thanks again.

If you are not having any issues with Nero6.6.0.18 and don't have InCD nstalled you can keep EZCD Creator. I have had both running for over 2 years with no conflicts. Just don't run them at the same time. Maybe I'm lucky but there are some proggys that EZCD is better at than Nero, but none are dvd related.

Thanks for that. I have used EZCD for many years and found it great for CD burning but Nero has always been better for DVD's.
I will leave both installed and see how it goes.
Cheers

why would they conflict if they are both not running? unless maybe one is sneaky and running processes in the background?

@Rob1026, Thank you for your "Informed" contribution, if you cannot contribute something helpful then please restrain from making such comments.
Can you explain why Roxio appears in Nero log files....even though the member is NOT using that program but the Nero program.
How do you think we know that they have Roxio installed?

At present I have aol opened and using to connect to afterdawn. There are 43 other processes running according to task manager. Gwendolin is right about EZCD being on the log for Nero.

Regarding Nero and EZCD running on the same machine, I have checked this further and managed to overcome the conflicts problem. This may be of help to others as it appears to work ok for me but I cannot say it is guaranteed to work.
I prefer to use Nero's 'IN CD' so I installed EZCD using custome install and removed its 'Direct CD' programme. I have been able to use both applications for DVD (Nero) and CD (EZCD)without any problems. So far, so good.
Thanks to everybody who has contributed to this query and sorted my CD burning issue.
