I have successfully backed up tons of games. I have the game "god of war" and i ripped it successfully. I know i did this right because i tried it on a friends PS2 thats chipped. I have an older version of swap magic (DVD version 2.0) and i am unable to boot it correctly. The game boots, but then freezes when it shows all the copyright info in the begining. Would the newest version of swap magic (3.6) be able to boot my game correctly? The same thing happens when i try to boot MGS3: Subsitance, it just boots to a black screen, but i know it is a good copy.
Burned at 4X with DVD decrypter on TDK media
Any input would be appreciated.

1st off TDK is not very good media, and will cause u more probelms than not, so stick with the best- verbatim and taiyo yuden. Secondly, cause u have SM 2.0, u need to use CD loader V7 all to boot the game, which can be found at this link:

Good luck, cause its a hell of a game:)
EDIT - Yes, ripped correctly, they will swap directly with SM 3.6

I have tried this but the problem i have is that the CD version of swap magic wont boot properly. When i try and boot it, all i get is "insert plastation or playstation 2 disc".... i think i am just gonna buy swap magic 3.6 and be done with it.
Also, There is another version (swap magic 3.8 CODER) out and as far as i know the only difference between 3.6 and 3.8 CODER is being able to enter codes within swap magic? Are there any other advantages to using 3.8 CODER over 3.6?

No, thats about the only advantage of 3.8.
Ya, Sm 3.6 is great, I have God of War working perfectly, and all other games that arnt DVD-9 boot with no problems at all(when u rip DVD-9s, they also work flawlessly), I guess it time for an upgrade triv:)

Could I rip and burn a DVD-9 DVD and use swap magic 3.6? I have 3.6, but thought that I could only boot DVD-5. Can 3.6 boot up a burned DVD-9?

No, ur right in that SM 3.6 only supports DVD-5. There are many rip kits available that delete dummy data and FMV's in DVD-9s to make them a size that is burnable on DVD-5. Check out ps2nfo.com, they have a lot of ripkits for DVD-9 titles. Maybe SM's next release will support DVD-9, we can always hope:)
