Can I use WinHip 1.7.3.0 to install gran turismo 4 to my ps2 H/D ? Or is it best to use Hdl-dumb-0.8.1 & Can I just replace my backup h/d with the ps2 h/d ? I have HdAdv3 PAL

Both should work - Winhiip worked for me.

What exactly do you mean by this - you mean use another HDD to replace the Sony PS2 HDD? Yes - HDAdvance lets you use most HDDs available on the market today. Check http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/ for HDD compatibility

I have a v7 ps2 with a 60gb h/d & hdadvance 3 PAL which as we know can not install a DVD-9 directly. I used DVD Decrypter to copy iso to my pc h/d & I am going to take out my backup h/d & replace it with ps2 h/d to install GT4. I would prefer to use winhiip as this seems to be more reliable than hd-dump from what I read in this forum. Also do I have to enable any modes for GT4 when installed.

Hmm I thought it was DVD9 compatitable? Could be wrong though...

I have used Winhiip to copy my GT4 to my HDD and it works fine, but I used the version which I shrinked from the original DVD9 to DVD5 though, cos it was quicker to install, and you can hardly see the difference... can't remember what mode it was, but check http://list.ps2hd.com/

Yes Hdadv3 is DVD9 compatible but you have to use the pc if you want to install the full DVD9 version of the game as I do.I see in one of your replys in another thread you have a link to the sonic tool is it easy to use?

You mean rebuilding? It's not hard, but does take a bit of time (waiting for the program to resize the videos - can't remember exactly how long it took, but it was something between 30-60mins from memory) - but can just follow the guide, do the conversion, and let it do its work while you go for a coffee or a (very) quick game of cricket or rugby or something :)

I checked out the sonix guide & it looks too hard for this little brain.I will stick to the full 5.5gig version for now.

Lol. I always take out the HDD and install games from my computer - it's better for the laser on your PS2 anyway :)
