Can someone put an end to the argument I am having about the 360. is it a modd chip or just a firmware disc that alows you to play back ups. Sorry if its a dumb question but I know nothing.

NO, what you do is put/flash a hacked firmware in the DVD drive. To do this you connect it to your PC. At this point in time I dont recomend this mod, wait for a mod chip, hopefully not far off now...

oh my, if you do not know iRC i suggest you stay far away from the firmware hack.

i suggested that you dont do the firmware hack cause in the future it may get you banned from LIVE... and that would suck.

If you still want to do it google IRC and read a tutorial or something, and use "mIRC" as your client.

I don't currently own a 360 but I was thinking about getting one. If I did the firmware patch, is it permanent? Also, how would I know which is the right 360 to buy thats compatible?

you wouldn't know, but eventually they'll have both dvd drives hacked... also it is 100% reversable.

I would go with the modchip nodoubt about it if it was external.

I'll get a mod chip that can be turned on and off. Off = stock and on means I plug in me 200Gig USB HDD. :)

yeah a modchip that turns on and off would be the best choice ever!
you'd be able to play them backup games(yes backup?Yeah Right!)...
anyway and there would be no problems with live...but never the less there is dual fimware avaliable,so that might work as well,and teh worst of it is that all this is gonna destroy your warruntee,which i don't want...do i'm just gonna sit back and chill and see how the waves flow...
