I posted in the DVD-R forum, but it didn't seem like there were many people there, and this problem seems to fit here, as well. Anyway, what jumpers will I need to connect a BenQ 1650 dvd burner and a BenQ 5232X to an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium?

Also, will I be able to configure my system without the audio jumpers and just the IDE, or would I need those, or would that cause problems in some way?

Ide drive setup. One need to be set master, the other slave. Your selection, which is which. Then the master needs to be at the end of the ribbon. the slave in the middle. If you have a audio cable, I would use the drive that is not the burner.

codydog, master doesn't always have to be at end of cable, just depends on the ide cable if 1 certain wire is cut purposely during manufacture of cable. is only with 80wire 40pin ide cables not 40wire 40pin ide cables.

Teach and learn. Never heard of purposely cutting. Something else to take into consideration, when problems arise. Thanks.

One conductor is just missing a little section about half a mm long. Its rather obvious once you see it.
