My 1.5 PSP thinks its 2.0!!

Forgive me if this is a complete Noob question, but I can't figure it out.

My 1.5 PSP now says its 2.0 in the system settings but I never upgraded it! I can also still run my ISO's the same way I always have with umdemulator and fastloader etc. I've powered off and on my PSP several times and it still shows itself to be 2.0 but I don't have the sony web browser as a new feature etc.

Can someone explain what possibly happened and if its possible for isos to update the firmware?

you ever use anything called PSPset or X flash? If you have, you may have inadvertently chose to change your FW version to 2.00. It's not big deal, really. Just find a link where you can go and d/l a copy of one of those and if your fw really isn't upgraded you can just change your FW version by using one of these tools to access teh flash memory and change it back.

Ok thats a relief. I do have an X folder on my memory stick. That would explain it. I bought mine used and I'm confidant its 1.5 but Does that mean people can put a 1.5 file in the X folder to trick some buyer into believing its 1.5 when its not?

probably..
well frankly u can scam as much as u want on ebay and stuff (like sell 2.7 and show a picture of 1.5)...thats y u wanna deal with those power sellers lol
i saw in another thread long time ago.. this guy was selling video clips that guaranteed ppl that he can downgrade 2.1+ ...but apparently he just changed the firmware version number on his psp
