If the Gamecube took years to be modded I cant imagine how long it is to mod the Wii. Yet, we don't even have the specs of the Wii and you're thinking of modding it. come on let it come out and then you can think of that.

how long after the release of the gamecube did it take for a gamecube chip or softmod to come out?? I prefer softmod much better by the way...

it was a good 3-4 years before the cube was easily able to play backups. I wouldn't hold your breath on modding the wii anytime in the near future. Plus not as much people will be trying like they do with sony and MS. The interest is just not there. That was the case with the cube. Who really wanted it modded when Ninteno barely releases and new games.

I think that that will change now because gamecube had nothing to offer compared to all the other systems except it had better graphics than the ps2 thats all...but now the Wii...got most of the attention by a japanese magazine (more than both ps3 and 360 combined)the magazine says that over 60% of jap people will buy a Wii...(according to a poll)so this time I think the process will be much faster...
P.S. Is the metroid prime series anything worth comparing to Halo? What is the most similar game to Halo on the gamecube or Wii for that matter? (I am a Halo Fanboy (I guess))

Halo in my opinion is an overhyped game, personally I think that Metroid is a lot more fun to play than Halo, but thats just me.

I love both games, but it's hard to compare them. They're not exactly in the same genre.

my question really is...will Metroid fill up my hole for the science fiction shooter of one superior being saving the world like Halo? I beat both Halo's now I am depressed (I dont no if that is the word) so, will metroid do me any good?? Are the characters stupiditys like mr. ugly f*** face over there flying on two wings or is it like realistic like Cortana...

Getting back on topic.. Most likely the reason for people taking so long to mod the game cube was because of the interested in the PS2.
Another factor was because you had to use mini-dvds to back up Game Cube games instead of the full Size dvds. Aside from costing more per dvd then their full size cousins, mini-dvds are harder to find than regular DVD-R. Detering mod manufacturers from the GC market.
Since most of the buzz seems to be around Nintendo this time, and the Wii will be using full sized dvds, I doubt it will take as long to mod the Wii compared to the GC. I don't expect to see a modded Wii within the first year of launch.. but maybe within two years

i agree the wii has more hype than the cube did, and also with it havin dvd format will be more temtin to the ppl who make these mods and such.
i also think we cud see sum kind of softmod like the 360 has in the 1st year then maybe a modchip, but 1st lets wait for a release date to be confirmed ;O)
