Does anyone know if you can shrink a wav file much like you can a dvd file? I would think there should be a way since we can take a dvd movie and shrink it to fit on 1 dvd.

Just encode your wav file to a mp3 or wma file that will compress it.

Thanks for the reply.....I know I can convert it to a mp3 file however I would like to keep the wav format so I can play it in my car cd player. It won't play mp3s. Was hoping to be able to compress the wav to a smaller size but maybe that is not possible.

creator classic
ye have to convert them to mp3 by right clicking on the song in creator classic and select covert to audio file to mp3 layer 3, to 320kbps and save to a folder, and then use the mp3 burn setting under music in creator classic to burn from that folder

I just tried compressing a wav in Nero Wave Editor, it can be done load your wav file and then when you save you need to change the frequency and it will compress the file of course as with any compression you will lose quality but try a test run and see what you ears think.

When you extract your audio off of your DVD ( I use DVDdecyrpter) have it split by chapters. There are also other options to split by size. That way you can put your file on different CD's without losing quality. You will also be able to advance to different chapters if you are listening to a movie. A mp3 is a compression of a WAV file and I wouldn't use anything less than 160kb when I convert to mp3's.
I make CD's of MP3 all the time to play in my home systen and I have a old CD player from 89' so I don't think you will have a problem.
Best thing I can tell you is just experiment.
