Heheh. I think a big banner at the top of AD forum saying "no asking for illegal/pirated material or you will be banned" might help :p

LOL!!! I actually think that is a great idea, cause im pesonally tired of ppl asking that questions, more than half of new threads deal with piracy(at least it seems like it), enough is enough!!!

Yeah it's a pitty that this forum is flooded with the same kind of questions over and over again, making it really difficult to find useful information. Never the less, it's still one of my favourite PS2 sites, cos this is where I learnt most about backing up games, homebrews and playing games from HDD...

5. -> PIRACY AND LINKING TO PIRATED MATERIAL IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED, YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE FROZEN IF YOU DO THIS <-

You guys also need to read the end of the forum rules. The part regarding Rule #5 :)
Case examples regarding rule number five (5). No piracy.
Case: Pirated material, such as serial numbers and direct links to pirated, copyrighted material (including direct links to torrent files and ed2k links). PROHIBITED
Case: Technical, in depth discussion about copy protection circumvention (i.e. cracking). PROHIBITED
Case: Discussion about pirated content and piracy, such as converting (downloaded) video and/or audio files to DVD/AudioCD/whatever format. PERMITTED
Case: Discussion about copy protection circumvention in general (extracting encrypted content, such as DVD movies, compact discs, copy protected console and computer software, using existing software). PERMITTED
Case: Links to sites offering possibly pirated content (including torrent files and ed2k links). PERMITTED
Notice the last one? You just can't link directly to the material, but you may link to sites that may have it.

I'm not trying to be direspectful at all flip, but i dont understand the difference. What is the differnce between saying "u might find game x here" and posting a direct link to the file? Either way the person is going to find and download the software/application illegaly when all is said and done. I am by no means trying to act like a moderator, or purposely trying to be a smart a@@, i just dont understand the difference. I really respect aD and the people on aD, and hope this doesnt negatively affect my status.

poor old ganglead...
the best free way is to use torrents
you will need a client to download the files (azureus/bitlord/bitcomet/utorrent etc etc)
there are many guides on the net showing you how to use them
then you will need a site(s) to get your "stuff" from
there are loads to choose from, some private which require membership, some which dont
www.torrentspy.com
www.mininova.org
www.isohunt.com
are just a few
you need to go to these sites, find what you need, and download the torrent file, its only a small file,
the small file is what tells your client where to get all the pieces from which form the whole download
then you open the small torrent file in the client you are using
this will connect you to the tracker, and the downloading should begin.
when its done you will have a bunch of rar files, you need to extract whats inside using winrar
thats a basic insight,
i suggest you search the net first and do a bit of research
or join us for live help on adbuddies
(see my sig)

Well that is just how I interpret the forum rules set forth by the admins. aD is here to help people and we do have a P2P forum. Posting a direct link is like handing it to them, but there is no reason why we cannot suggest where they might find it.
For those who disagree with piracy, then don't post and don't help. But there are alot of people who want to help. Also, for me I could care either way. Microsoft charges us $399 for freaking XP Pro, $499 for Office Pro. If you know someone at Microsoft or work for Microsoft you get XP Pro for $35!! and Office Pro for $65!!! WTF is that. And you wonder why people pirate.
Someone made a post, companies are going to go bankrupt and stop developing games cause of piracy. BS!! They will always make games and software. There are still a ton of people willing to pay. Luckily I know a few people at MS :) And, games if I like it ... I'll pay for it. But to each his own.

Thx for the reply flip, i completely understand y ppl pirate, i have said in other forums how ridiculous prices are for media, and unless the sony, microsoft, etc. ease up on the price, pirating is going to increase.
Appreciate telling me the distinguishment between what is allowed and not with respect tosites that may offer pirated material. Will take it into consieration from now on:)
