Hi,

Question 1:
Recently I found out that XviDs after a while start to hack some. I use FFDSHOW with some light postprocessing, some blur and rezising. Have used thoose settings for about a month. Before i only used postprocessing.

This problem with tha hacks seem to appear after a while in the movies. Can it be because of the settings. Or maybe ffdshow overall?

I have now went back to only use the setting for postprocessing again. But I have not havae time to test if the problem still remains.

Question 2:
I found out that there is some new settings called VFW codec configuration in the newest FFDSHOW. It have some settings for i.e. postprocessing under the decoding flap. But it is not checked, even when i choosed to use postprocessing during the installation. But the postprocessing under the usual video decoder configuration is checked. What is this new "VFW codec configuration"? Should I care?

That is the decoder config for ffdshow's VfW decoder. This is used ie. when you open a video file in VirtualDub. It doesn't effect playback via dshow media players such as MPC, wmp, etc.

Well I don't know what "hack some" means.

What FFDShow build anyway? You would need to be real specific since there are so many. Must have been at least 50 builds so far of rev2546.

How the hell do i see what revision? :) I installed the latest one that is to be found on this site.

With "hack some" I mean that the pictures seem to move kinda slow, like if only half of the frames is played up. Like a game that hacks because lack of CPU.

I unchecked rezie and blur in the video settings for FFDShow. I have had the time to test more. I just have to wait and see...

I have a 3.2 GHz Prescott and 1 gb RAM so it should not be a resource issue, I think.

Maybe it is just some movie files that do this. Badly encoded or something? I have watched A LOT of series last months, and also som e movies and have never got over the problem before. Well, just once, but at that time I was convinced that it was because of some other application. But this time it was not so maybe thoose two xvids just are bad?

It means "Most Likely" that you tried to open an AVI file with the audio encoded as VBR MP3 instead of a constant bit rate mp3 in virual dubmod. Sometimes you will get audio that is not synced up if you edit the video any and use direct stream copy on the audio. Full proccessing mode decompresses the audio and then you would recompress it when the file was saved. Sometimes you can get away with ussing the direct stream copy anayways. If it won't take that long you can always try it first and if it's not synced then go back and do a full processing mode.
