Hi im not really certain and just found this with random web searches but hoping you can help. I think i have recently been infected with smitfraud, not really sure though. I have run a few ativirus programs and they keep telling me i have been infected with Win:32Zlob-BN which is 'removes' but it keeps coming back. I dont know what this is but i think it may be responsible for opening mutiple IE windows when i try to access internet explorer and not letting me access my internet options. Really hoping someone can help! I downloaded Hijackit the log is in the next post.

Hi cooliobri, you got some infections...

Download SmitfraudFix.zip to your desktop -> http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip

Unzip it (folder named SmitFraudFix) to your desktop:

Open the folder SmitfraudFix and doubleclick smitfraudfix.cmd
Choose option #1 - Search by typing 1 and pressing "Enter"; a textfile opens and lists the infected files (if those exist)

Post the contents of this textfile to here.

(Some antiviruses recognises process.exe as a malware. It is not malware, it is a program that stops processes)

Then we'll start the cleaning....

I have moved from AD, I won''t be taking new HijackThis logs from here. Reason: The AD''s Unsupportive athmosphere.

Hi cooliobri and sorry for the long wait, I've been busy...

You have too many antiviruses and firewalls running at the same time. You have ZoneAlarm and Sygate firewalls, then you have Norton, NOD32 and Network Associates as antiviruses.
You should leave only one firewall and one antivirus. This is because running multiple programs can cause slowness, crashes, conflicts etc.

So remove those programs trough Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs, leave only 1 firewall and 1 antivirus.
(I would recommend the combination of NOD32 and ZoneAlarm but your choice)

Then you have both Windows Defender and MIcrosoft Antispyware runnning, remove Microsoft Antispyware since it is basically an older version of Windows Defender.

Ok, you got some infections on your computer....

Cleaning instructions:

Download and install Ewido anti-malware -> http://www.ewido.net/en/download
Update it, but do NOT run a scan yet. We'll use it later.

At first you have to disable some realtime protection programs because they may hinder the scanning, disable Ad-Aware Ad-Watch and Windows Defender, instructions -> http://wiki.castlecops.com/Malware_Removal:_Temporarily_Disable_R...

Run HijackThis. Press Do a system scan only, then close all other windows, checkmark the following entries and press Fix checked

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.bestwebslinks.com/bar.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.bestwebslinks.com/search.php?qq=%1
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.supanet.com/search/iepanel/ <- if you haven't set this to your searchpage
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.humorsearch.com/ie/search.html <- if you haven't set this to your searchpage
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = http://www.bestwebslinks.com/
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O2 - BHO: Nothing - {6ab7158b-4bff-4160-ad7d-4d622df548cf} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp100.tmp
O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://ka.bar.need2find.com/KA/menusearch.html?p=KA
O16 - DPF: {001EE746-A1F9-460E-80AD-269E088D6A01} (Infotl Control) - http://site.ebrary.com/support/plugins/ebraryRdr.cab

Restart your computer to the safemode and choose your normal user account -> http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

When in safemode, open SmitfraudFix folder and doubleclick the file smitfraudfix.cmd
Choose option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and pressing "Enter" in order to remove the infected files.

You are asked: "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove your desktop wallpaper and the infected registry keys.

The tool checks if wininet.dll file is infected. You might be asked to replace the infected .dll (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool might have to restart your computer; if it won't do it, restart your computer back to normal mode.
A textfile will appear after the cleaning process, copy this file and paste it to here.

Tha log is saved to your local diskdrive, usually C:\rapport.txt.

Warning : Running option 2 in a clean computer will delete your desktop wallpaper.

Scan and clean your computer with Ewido and save the report.

Post the following logs to here:
-> a fresh HijackThis log
-> Ewido's log
-> contents of C:\rapport.txt

Now you can enable realtime protections...

And please let me know that what antivirus/firewall combination you're going to use so we can clean the leftovers....

I have moved from AD, I won''t be taking new HijackThis logs from here. Reason: The AD''s Unsupportive athmosphere.
