From what I gather, the Ultra Edition is for the US (and Canada I assume) while the Premium Edition is for Europe. Will there be any problems if I use the Premium edition if I live in the US (i.e. hardware incompatibility, wrong region codes etc).

If you ever want, you can change the version you are able to download by just changing the language from English to US-English by clicking on the International button on the Nero website.

Okay thanks, I had the Ultra edition installed then installed Premium cause I thought it was better but then my stuff stopped burning properly (i.e. it says burned successfully but doesnt work on my dvd player). Im doing a full reinstall now see if the situation improves.

Noo, it doesnt work. Despite the fact that I never get any help when I ask for it here, ill ask anyways and hope some great dude out there will assist me.
I basically outlined my problem on my last post. Im burning with Nerovision4, put some .avi files in. I change the audio to "automatic" instead of "LCMP" or whatever to make more room, and video quality to "automatic fit to disc" so I can cram as much as I can on the dvd. Burn away at 4x like I usually do...4 hours later it says burn sucessful but the thing doesnt work on my dvd player or my computer.
I have also tried burning a datadisc full of videos, tried around 4-5 times. 4 of them came with the same result as the above. The last one sort of worked. Except on a few of the files actually ran when I put it in my computer (i.e. episodes 1-10 worked, 11-20 didnt)...said something about wrong compression methods or something. I gave up and decided to seek help AGAIN before wasting anymore dvds.
Given that I have burned dvds in the same way in the past, I dont think its anything to do with hardware or anything with my dvd player. In case you didnt read above, I just did a full clean install (the tool on their website + uninstall). Im running WinXP Home SP2, 2.6ghz and 512 ram if that actually helps.

Sorry, I guess i should've created a new topic. Yes, the first question regarding Premium vs. Ultra edition has been answered...and i guess my statement about me never getting help is sort of invalidated by that.
Secondly, me saying 'nooo' meant that a clean install didnt help. The dvds i burn to play on my dvd player dont work is the problem. The weird thing is there is no error messages. It says burn completely successful yet my DVD player and my computer doesnt recognize it as a disc with anything on it.
The huge post I made outlined the steps I go through (and the program I used) to burn my disc. As for the log, its useless. Last time I posted it, my post got ignored...I dont remember if I was even prompted to save a log cause it was burned sucessfully.

Even if you don't have an error log, there is the C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\NeroHistory.log. It is a little easier to read anyway.
If you need to experiment, set up the ImageDrive. After you burn the image, you can load it on the ImageDrive and it will play (or not) just like a real DVD would. Check under tools for it.
Have you put the discs in any other computers to test? If you have InCD installed, you might try uninstalling it for a while. It may or may not cause you problems.
If your prior log was ignored, it was probably because no one trains anyone here as to how to read them. As far as I know, any suggestions are given from seeing many logs. The sample ones they have on the Nero site are a little out of date.

All I see is that there were at least 2 burn sessions that were done successfully (at 4x). At the moment the search is down and I cant find my old posts (only the recent ones), including that one that im saying got ignored. Ill look into it again ASAP.

These latest versions of Nero are full of bugs, I recommend you uninstall, run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install 7.0.8.2 a more stable version from here

Thank you for decipher all that technical stuff. Firmware link you gave me 404 not found so I searched for it myself. I dont know whats up with my computer but the memory is always taken up by something or another...ill try restricting it more. Finally, yes I played the DVD on my comp, nothing there. I go to My Computer, double click on the drive and it gives me "Incorrect Function". Will move to a more stable version right...now.

I'm not much good at dicipering the logs, but reading thru the forums, my input is that most people seem to think that NERO6 is a far better option if you have problems with version 7..) as most of the bugs have been worked out by now.
If youre able to uninstall NERO7 you may get far better results with NERO6..
And a good rule of thumb is to not touch the PC when burning, and if possilble disconnect it from the internet aswell..

"VB1949M ZDY834Z 1.0 dtscsi Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off" is one of your 2 CDVD-ROM drives, and its DirectMemoryAccess is swiched OFF - you may want to switch it on in the Device Manager for better disc reading if able tho i doubt it will make any difference as it is not the one you are recording to, but it does appear to be on the same IDE lead...

Sigh, problem not solved. I had a problem using the clean tool, towards the end I get a runtime error (it still seems to delete the files anyways). I couldnt get the earlier version to work. It worked until I restarted my computer where it said there was an install issue and told me to reinstall some 10 times (geez, once or twice is enough). I guess Ill have to reinstall nero 6 or something.
The first DVD i burned after upgrading the firmware had 4 video files, the first two worked from what I was told but the last 2 did not...the same thing happened on my data disc like I mentioned before (eps 1-10 worked, 11-20 didnt). They all said burn completely sucessful.
EDIT: Oh for the firmware thing, I live in Canada but I already upgraded...hopefully not the wrong one. And I have the history log for this one as well if necessary.

Problem not solved. I downloaded a copy of Nero 6.6.0.18 (newest for Nero 6 I believe) but it didnt come with NVE so I got that seperately (NVE3.something).
The first time I did it, it froze while transcoding, the second time it screws up right before the burn (I think). It said something about unable to create disc structure, failed transcoding.

Need to update firmware again? The link is 404 not found again. Ive previously burned successfully with these discs (quite a few times actually, ive gone through a 50 pack already). Gonna use that patch and see if it helps. Be back soon =)
