Can anyone tell me if the full (non OEM) version of Nero 6 can produce a higher bitrate than 5073 kbps? I can see no way to achieve a higher rate than this and everything is slightly pixelated on the DVD as a result. big let down.

thanks a lot
frank.

why is everything so hard!!

I don't have Nero 6, so some of this may not apply, but unless you have set the bit rate yourself, it may depend on the size of the material you are trying to fit on the disc. Have you read the user guide to see where the adjustments are for burning quality?

I also would not think the video would be pixelated at the setting. Is the original video of good quality? Have you tried other videos to see if they come out the same?

Maybe post a log for us to look at. Take out your serial number. I don't know where it is in Nero 6, but look for a NeroHistory.log file.

Hi Saltgrass

There seems no way to adjust the bit rate in Nero 6 (OEM version). I have looked extensively & repeatedly.

The source AVI files which I put into Nero are of EXCELLENT quality captured (using ULEAD Video Studio) straight from DV camera, via Firewire at 720x576. They are around 30,000 kb/s when viewed in say Winamp.

I have read the user guide for Nero 7 on the Nero site and the screendumps look to be exactly the same as the OEM version, showing an uneditable field displaying the following:

----------------------------------
quality: standard play(5073kbps)
----------------------------------

Please check their screen dumps on pages 75 & 76 here:

ftp://ftp6.Nero.com/user_guides/nero7/vision4/NeroVision_ug_eng.pdf

I can't believe I am the only one to observe this problem. To back myself up I now have a trial copy of Pinnacle Studio 10 and this product is fully editable in this regard and can go to 8500kb/s which as I have tested, makes a BRILLANT quality DVD from the same source files.....????!!!!

Any thoughts out there??

I have Nero7 and I can adjust the bit rate far in excess of 5073, here I've set it to in excess of 6000

Open NVE,click on More, click on Video options, DVD Video, Select Custom and then increase fr.
