I need to maximize DVD space for VHS cassettes burned at SP or EP settings. On Nero should I burn at sp, or long play or extended play or even SL..

I would recommend that you just transfer your vhs to hard disc and then use shrink to make it fit on a DVD5, this way you will get the best quality, it takes time but its worth it.

FYI In my experience doing this with Nero, a DVD-R will fit about 80-90 minutes of vhs captured as MPEG's on it using the best quality mode without compression. The resulting pq is the same as the tape.
Never tried using the super long or other options yet because VHS is almost unwatchable without being compressed..... True though i am "spoiled" now that I got used to watching HD ....
