Does anyone know of DVD Player software that I can use on OS X instead of the preinstalled DVDPlayer?
I have some backup DVD-R's that will play on my Dell but not on my g4 Ti...
no idea why, but I'm guessing it has something to do with Mac's obsession with copyright

thanks

actually, I'm almost certain its a problem with Mac's DVDPlayer, because I did find a program called MPlayer, which is terrible, you have to open the videoTS file on the disc and play it like a regular file, and theres no subtitle support or navigation or menus or anything, but it still plays the dvd whereas DVDPlayer just says the disc is not supported.

thanks

there is a way to watch the dvd on the mac when you decrypt the dvd to your hard drive and then reincrypt the dvd when you copy it the dvd will then play but you need DVD Shrink or something like that to relock a dvd

few things.. what brand of dvds are they burned onto? the drive in the powerbook may not like the brand of media. which your dell does.

vlc would be a good one to try.. i have used it myself for wmv and other file types.

oh my..

when the dvd is ripped onto the HD using Mac the ripper, you can use dvd player to play that back. since, it is a back-up already. there is no need to decrypt it. all you're doing is just play it.
why would you need to re-encrypt it when you burn it?

dvd shrink.. a decryptor.. NOT a burner. it has built into it for easy burning with DVD Decrypter and Nero. but DVD Shrink alone will not burn.. you will need Nero or DVD Decrypter.
here's the kicker.. DVD Shrink... is NOT mac software. DVD Shrink is ONLY for windows. the only way you are going to use this, is if you have an INTEL MAC. and you have either boot camp running, or parallel.

you could always use virtual pc, but for this.. there is not point at all.. would run very slow on this machine. and does require a large amount of ram.

just my thoughts.. just wanted to clear a few things up.
