Since the new update if you play the music in the dashboard and put in an old xbox disc such as halo 2, the music should continue to play. Now when the game is fully started it should still be playing and if you have the media remote you should be able to skip, pause and play the songs with it still working. Just thought this was an interesting find, and figured i'd post it here. have fun since u can now listen to ur own music on original xbox games. i've only tried it w/ halo 2, so if anyone wants to confirm w/ someother old xbox games feel free

I don't believe this is a glitch, its done on purpose, its nice too. I was playing music in the background while playing call of duty 2 online. Nothing like killing germans while listning to Celine Dion.

it's a glitch/easteregg, because it's for Xbox1 titles. i'm not talking about the Xbox360 Titles. and Custom tracks on Xbox1 titles aren't supposed to be supported.

Who says its not to be supported? I'd imagine if they put it in for xbox360 why not xbox. The dash doesnt care what game (if any) is in the xbox.... i'm not arguing with you, I'm just looking for the answer.

well that's where it's likely a glitch, because before the update you could do the above mentioned, because of the emulation. xbox and xbox360 are different, that's all. u need to have the media remote to be able to control the music whilst playing an original xbox game.

If you do indeed need the remote to do it then I agree with you, if it can be done anytime I say its a feature. Not that it matters really. We all win.

OK guys.....good conversation but here i come in for the kill.
This is a really great feature and im sure we will get a feature like this soon but sadly this is very much a glitch. How do i know you ask?
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/press/2006/0605-springrelease-features.htm The press release says nothing of it, and m$ is usually pretty good about documentation.

Ugg, this topic continues..... this feature/bug/whatever was working before the latest patch so of course it wouldnt be in the documentation?

it wasn't working before this update, because i'm talking about the music u select playing during a game like halo2, which i had tried before this update (just leave music on and forget when i throw the disc in) the music would stop and the game music would play, not using my mediaremote i can change the songs whilst playing the game. and CG is right, it's a bug/glitch.

I know it worked with XBox360 before the patch, wasn't sure about the XBox emulation. Hey, lets just agree that they leave it in right?

@skater
Yes you can play tunes online and offline from day one but smurff is talking about while playing on an original xbox game in which the "blade" isnt accesible to you for playing music and checking friends, messgaes, etc.

Ok, I finally get it, I only got my xbox360 a few days ago, I know some games were backwards compat but didnt know you could not access the blade while playing original xbox. i stand corrected. i do believe this was not an intended feature now. I apologize to the original poster.
