I bought a portable dvd player the other day so i could watch movies in my car i already had one but it broke so i replaced it with a bigger one it has an a/v input on it which is no different than my last player i used to connect my regular xbox (not 360) to it and play games on long trips, i have no trouble connecting anything but i just bought a 360 about a week ago and in a week im going on a long ride i would like to connect my 360 to my dvd player screen and play it while riding in the car as i said hookup and powering the 360 isnt i problem i have all the setup worked out already my problem is since the consoles are so expencive and its new i was wondering if the 360 riding in the car would cause it to mess up becuase of bouncing around and other issuses you can think of if you have any thoughts please let me know im wanting to know if its safe or not to let it ride or if it will possibly cause problems with my 360.....thanks

Not recommended!

The bouncing around will damage your discs for sure. Just a slight nudge caused my first copy of PGR3 to become unreadable - my girlfriend's fault!!! (It's OK, hon - I forgive you.) The Best Buy disc replacement insurance came in handy.

I've played the PS2 and the Xbox in moving vehicles with no problems. The 360 is a totally different animal altogether.

Quote:
Disc scratching
When a user moves the Xbox 360 from a vertical position to a horizontal position, or vice-versa, while the system is on, the inserted disc may brush against the drive's pickup-assembly and incur scratches to its reflective coating. The Xbox 360 owner's manual specifically warns against moving the system while it is powered on. Microsoft does not replace scratched game discs, by simply replacing the media, because they do not own the rights to some games...

Note: Consoles equipped with the Toshiba-Samsung manufactured drive may experience dislodging of the disc when the console is tilted with a game inserted. This could damage your disc as well as your drive. Users with drives manufactured by Hitachi-LG have only reported damaged discs.

No problem.

Off the record - I trust my neighbor's 12 year old geek son more than most of the people in Best Buy. Sorry if there are Best Buy employees in the forums. I still love shopping there though - great prices on a lot of stuff. I just try to avoid the sales assistants.
