I might be off topic here so please excuse me if I am. I was wondering why it is so easy for AnyDVD to bypass the protection from all of the major studios,Sony etc., and can't or will not offer to decrypt protection from PC games that you own on DVD media or even CD media. Again, just wondering.

have u tried Alcohol 120% or dvddecrypter. i used to use dvddecrypter...read in iso then burn in iso. be sure to burn at a low speed. i havent done this in awhile so i dont know if it works on the new stuff. by the way u will need a mod chip before u can play them.

Actually Slysoft has a product called Clone CD. Removing CSS from Video DVDs is very different than removing the protection from Data DVDs. They have a much wider range of copy protections, SafeDisk, SecureROM, StarForce, and others. Clone CD attempts to make an exact copy with the protections still in place, though you need a supported burner to duplicate all of the protection schemes.

Just an FYI. It was not their intent for their encryption to be broken. The guy that actually broke the DVD movie protection got a number of charges brought against him. They eventually stated that what he did was not illegal. But yeah, Xian is right. There is only one protection for DVD and a lot for PC games. Everyone is a little different. Some install actual drivers on your computer (Starforce). Others put read errors in front of the the play disk like Safedisk. Basically, it is a lot more complicated than just one protection. Now maybe if there were a number of different protection for DVD movies than we might be in a different ball park. I know there are two more currently being worked on.

From what I remember one of them was suppose to use some other type of encryption. The other one would burn something onto your disk after you copied it(not sure how) and if you went to play it in your DVD player it would offset some settings where you would have to bring it to a tech for the setting to be reset. I read this maybe 9 months ago. I have to see if I can find out the names of them or even if they are still being worked or completed.

That sounds a bit invasive. Is that not illegal itself? I suppose it might not be considered illegal as it would only be triggered if the user did something illegal himself.
