Ok, well, this is the case. I have my copy of Tony Hawks American Wasteland(dont laugh but i may have lost the original copy). its patched and working. the reason i know that is because it works on my friends PS2. he burned my ISO(he already has a original copy but he still use my ISO) and it worked fine on his. here is a video of him actually use gameshark with it(he likes to use cheats): http://youtube.com/watch?v=kZeBkXbHmZc . he lives far away so i cant just get a disk from him. I have burned my ISO to a TDK DVD-R and to a Imation DVD+R and both work very good because they load fast. now, to the point. whenever i go to play online, it gives a error saying it couldnt find the external network device(even though its a slimline PS2). then i put Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal. i go to multiplayer and online play. when i try to connect online it also gives a error saying it couldnt connect either. now when i reset my router and PS2 everything works fine. what could the problem possably be? please respond ASAP. im having withdrawls. well, not really. well, you know. maybe. anyways, help please.
Sounds like your router's cache is not being cleared as often as you should be doing.
Dunno why people use routers anyway. You dont get any of these problems if you connect directly from modem to PS2 you know. And, besides, when Sony created the Net Adapter & Online play, it was never intended for use with routers - hence the amount of problems people have with them. Sony assumed everyone would connect directly.
Which you should do anyway. It gives you faster connection times & stops you lagging to other players.
ah, not sure about all that. I have a router and use it with my Xbox all the time and it works just the same as it did when i went strait to the PC. No lag and no problems having to reset it. You will not have any speed issues with a good router, in fact my Linksys wireless router with Speedbooster works just as fast if not faster then when i was set up without it.
Most people have routers so they can hook up multiple devices to the PC and share a connection. The PS2 should be no different.
If you have to reset it each time then something is wrong. As the troubleshooting guide on http://www.us.playstation.com/ explains about reseting it when you set it up and still can not connect.
but check there. And by the way since they have a guide about how to set up your connection with a router/DSL modem i figure they knew people would be using those. It may be something small like the way the connection is set up on the PC. Or needing to enable "network sharing" on the PC connection. Or needing to set up a seperate LAN connection on the PC just for use with the PS2
thanks, but, just unplugging the power from my PS2 sometimes fixes the connection problem. what im trying to fix is my ONLY copy of Tony Hawks American Wasteland. since i dont have the original copy(so what if i lost?! stop tuanting me! oh, wait, you werent.), im trying to get my patched ISO online. my friend had the same problem but he just put R&C: Up Your Arsenal in and went to network setup. he went to edit connection then just kept testing the connection(i dont know why). it kept giving a error then finally it connected just fine. he went back to THAW and it works just fine now. i tryed that but it never connected. so my question is: WHY WONT MY STUPID DISK GET ONLINE AND WHY DOES IT ALWAYS MESS UP THE CONNECTION FOR ALL THE OTHER GAMES?! sorry for the caps but to really explain my frustration i kind of need them. anyways, help please. thanks.
oh, thats not my problem. my network is fine EXCEPT with THAW. it works fine with any other games. i even got online with my backup of MGS: Subsistence. it has to do with this one copy of THAW.

unless you have something helpful to contribute then just keep your hole shut. I am attempting to help someone with a problem and you want to chime in and be a jackhole for no reason.
WierdName, that is just really odd that all your otther online games work fine but this one will not. Have you tried re-burning and re-patching it for online play and see if it works?
Does the game work fine in regular play (not online)?
I know you say you can not get the disc, but did you save a copy of the ISO (unpatched) on your PC just in case that you can use to start from scratch?
Only other thing i can think of is to download a copy.
well i did download another ISO but it didnt work because it loaded slow. i did a direct transfer from my friend who lives far away using utorrent and when i burned it to both a DVD-R and a DVD+RW(i know ur not supposed to use a rw but thats the only +r i had around), it loaded as fast as the original. my used a +R and it works just fine for him. he originally had the same problem which he fixed in a way that didnt work for me. again, the problem is that when you go to online play, it says its connecting then gives an error saying it couldnt connect to the external network device which is ironic concidering mine and my friends PS2s are both slimlines. he went to R&C: UYA and loaded the network configuration thing built in and went to edit connection. he kept testing the connection until it just connected successfully. then he went back to THAW online and it has worked fine for him since. my main question is "WHAT THE HECK?!" im reeeeeeeeeeally confused and im pretty sure it doesnt have to do with the ISO because this one loads right.
