Extremely Slow Ripping Speeds

Lately My ripping speeds are just going extremely slow, they are averaging about 2-3x, which i think is pretty bad for a 16x burner setup..

Right now i have 2
NEC DVDRW ND-3550A Burners, Both have the 1.06 Firmware on them.

Im Swithing between DVD Shrink, and CloneDVD2 with ANYdvd running in the background of both programs.

I haved checked over the DMA modes, and in both Primary, and Secondary DMA if Available is selected.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you checked that your ASPI drivers have not corrupted? Check with Nero Info Tool (if you have Nero, Nero uses it's own ASPI drivers, but it's always good to make sure your systems ASPI layer is functioning correctly also) or download the aspi manager from adaptec http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/speed/software_pc/aspi/aspi_471a2_exe.htm and aspichk.exe. Update the ASPI layer if it is older than this one, and replace, replace with this one if your current ASPI drivers have corrupted. Reboot and try ripping a DVD to see if it makes any difference in speeds.

are you keeping your system clean? as in doing a disc cleanup and defragging your system a couple times a week ,try that
