I downloaded Half-Life for PS2 off of a couple of torrents. The file came in .mdf and .mds formats. I tried to use DVDDecrypter, but it woldn't recognize the file (even using the .mds reference file). I did a bit of research, found that it was an Alcohol 120% file. I downloaded Alcohol and tried to burn with that (in Trial mode) and would get a write error before it would wright on the disk.
Then I used an ISO Conversion tool that I found and that "seemed" to work. The game is playable but spins in the PS2 on high speed constantly. I am afraid it will wear out my PS2 if I play for too long. Is this due to being a CD game or am I doing something wrong?
I burnt it to a HP CD, and tried to burn it unsuccessfully onto a Maxell DVD as a trial.
i did a search and this post was the closest that i could come up with what i wanted to discuss....i have a pair of alcohol files, mds and mdf, it is a copy of maximo the first game....to my knowledge, these are like bin/cue files, i have no problem burning iso's, but this set of files doesn't seem to want to burn, i think it has to do with the original game being a cd rather than a dvd, i guess i'm wondering what i can use to burn the iso, alcohol doesn't like my sony DVD+R media when i try to burn image, i tried the above method by converting it like the tut said, but i burnt a Coaster, so i'm at a loss as to what i might do, mdf file is 715mb, i think i read that this file is big enough to use alcohol, and i am using the corporate version, so its not a trial thing, well, don't know what else i can add, if i have left out anything, sorry, just reply and i will try to give u more info, thanks for reply's and your patience!
Another guide for converting CD game to DVD. Although this conversion doesn't have 100% success rate, so if it doesn't work it could mean that the game can only be burnt to a CD
Just an Update. That method didn't work for me either. I burnt 3 coasters trying to adjust the settings. The programs did everything as per the instructions, but no luck.
