Just wondering is it worth having two hard drives, 1 for windows and apps and the other for downloads and files etc.
Would it make much of a difference to performance or not? I only have 1 80gig IDE HDD at the mo, i have another HDD lying around so should i put it in?
Yeah, Just have an extra one. It doesn't have to be top of the line, just enough to keep the files you want safe in case of a crash or reboot like ddp said.
I use a 120gb barracude(7400rpm) for all my media...movies/music etc etc, and a 74gb Raptor (10,000rpm) for all my programs/windows/apps. I would have just used the raptor but i was low on space...i noticed a small increase in performance when i removed the 40gb of music/movies from the raptor.
I've used 2 hard drives for years, one for the operating system, the other for apps and games, runs fine. Recently added a third HD for back-ups and storage via USB, so all digital pics and documents are duplicated on a second hard drive which can be stored away from the computer,
