hi im new to this backing up thing. I ve got a question to ask that im stuck on.Do i have to burn the game onto dvd-r or can i put it on to cd-r. and are the steps different if i put it on to dvd an cd. Is there any special softwares i need to use.
More than 1 question sorry
any help appreciated.

Most games need to be burnt to DVD, use DVD Decrypter for this.
For CD games use Alcohol 120%.

DVD Decrypter:
1) Mode:ISO:Read
2) Source - the DVD drive with the game in it
3) Destination - where you want to save the game
4) Press the icon with the DVD and an arrow pointing to a HDD to extract

sorry about the questions dan youve been a great help. just 1 more question
after ive decrypted the file do i write the iso file on to the disc

and is alcohol easy to use(eg do u decrypt the file then burn it.

Yep, to burn a game using DVD Decrypter:
1) Mode:ISO:Write
2) Source/destination
3) Burn the game (remember, burn at 4x MAX)

Alcohol 120% (for CDs):
Making an image:
1) Image Making Wizard, select the source CD/DVD drive. Under datatype (bottom left), select Play Station, then Next
2) Choose where you want to save the file to (image format doesn't really matter - *.mds if you really want a suggestion), start

Burning an image:
1) Image Burning Wizard, select the image file
2) Choose Play Station for datatype again, then start (burning speed doesn't really matter for CD... I usually just burn at max speed)
