One day, I was trying to transfer songs onto my iPod with iTunes, and it refused to drag the videos over. After trying for a couple days, i gave up. Then another day, i plugged in my iPod and it said there was an error with 'Itunes.exe' and when iTunes opened, my ipod would appear, but it wouldn't show any songs. At the bottom of the Itunes window, it would say how full the ipod was (about 2Gs), but the songs never appeared. iTunes would automatically 'update it', but everytime i unplugged the ipod, no songs would appear in the menus. It's like they were invisible. Everything on it's hard drive, however, was still intact. So I backed up everything on the hard drive and attempted to restore it last night. I've restored my iPod before, and it would take 30minutes tops, and be good as new. My computer ran the whole night, but I woke up, and the restoration was still going on. I thought it was taking unusually long and that maybe i should try to restore it again, so i disconnected the iPod. The ipod restarted, then i plugged it in again, and my PC recognized it as an ipod. then...(it's hard remembering exactly what happened) but i unplugged it again because Ipod Updater said that more than one application was using iPod, and to try again. When i replugged it, my computer referred to the ipod as a Removable Disk that was unformatted. Then, when I opened up Ipod Updater again, it said there was an Ipod Manager error, and it wouldnt allow me to restore, and it keeps closing. Not only that, my ipod will not power on, it displays an exclamation point and folder, and www.apple.com/support/ipod doesnt have any solutions that pertain to this.

I have no clue what to do, and i can't go to service, because im out of warranty and it would be easier to buy a new iPod. The ipod is a 60GB video. My updater is dated 1-10.The ipod is a major part of my work, and i really need for it to start running properly again.
www.apple.com/support/ipod doesnt help.

Yep, tried everything I could think of. I might just have to take it back to Compusa, and pretend like it did this on its own. My way of sticking it to the man.

I have had a simular problem to this, where is shows the erxclamation point and I found a real easy way to fix this. I downloaded the HP Dist Storage Format Tool( http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/serveroptions/us/download... )

once downloaded, plug your iPod in and put it into disk mode(hold the menu and select buttens at the same time, then as soon as the apple logo appears, press the select and rewind buttens at the same time, this will put it into disk mode)

open up the program

select FAT32 under "file system" and then press "format" This will take a while(took me about 45min) but once it's done, open up the ipod updater and click "restore" and your iPod will be retored back to factory settings.

Sorry I dont know the suggestion to you song problem, but this should help your $400 iPod come back to life!

Hope it works, post back if you have any more problems!

well, i google-searched it, and it was mentioned in another topic discussion suggesting the same intructions you gave me. here's another link: http://www.pctipp.ch/library/actions/pre_download.asp?id=7595
the site's German, but it prompts you for download when the site loads, so you dont have to figure out what link to click.

i got my fingers crossed.... hahaha
