Are XBOX 360 hard drives interchangable???

Hey
Pretty much as the title says.
Is it possible to use my hard drive that came with my premium 360 on another xbox 306 Core?? Or are they paired with the console??

I dont know if this means anything, but I bought my hard drive USED at gamestop..... My guess would be that it would work on other systems.

Also, i dont know if this is true, but when many people had to send their Xbox in b/c of the overheating problem, I BELIEVE that microsoft told the people to hang on to their hard drive and just send in the system. (If they replace the system, then they would have had to ask for the hard drive sent in as well)

when i sent mine in, they wanted everything. HDD, Controllers, Cords, etc. but i had a strange issue, anyway, if u did keep ur HDD they sometimes sent out another if they replaced the console, kind of like a doorprize i guess, that's how gamestop ended up w/ used HDD's(imo)...they are interchangable, but i'm not sure how gamesaves/profiles are handled if u transfer the HDD....but i would assume, that you'd still be able to access your stuff on the other xbox360, and i know there's something about arcade games only being able to run on the 'machine' they're downloaded on.
