Hi, I recently burned NFS MOST WANTED in a Verbatim DVD-R with DVD Decrypter but the FMV´s (the movies where the girl talks) are really slow. It looks like it lags or something and it is really annoying because I once burned it on a Memorex DVD-R and that didn´t happen.

Anyways I told DVD Decrypter to burn at 1x, but when it is burning it displays a message saying that it is burning at 2.1x. Is it because of the allowed recording speeds of the DVD?

Here are the DVD´s ID´s and the supported writing speeds if you want to check this out:


Verbatim (8x certified):

Supported Write Speeds: 2x; 4x; 6x; 8x; 12x
Manufacturer ID: MCC 02RG20


Memorex (4x certified):

Supported Write Speeds: 2x; 4x
Manufacturer ID: MBI 01RG20


Could it be the PS2 laser? I only used Memorex DVD´s for like 5 months before I started to use Verbatim and TDK, so I think the laser is not harmed yet.


I also have another problem. I bought an official vertical stand for the Slim PS2 (Small One), but when I play burned games with the vertical stand attached, the load times are pretty big. I even got the entire screen full of ghosts when I was playing Budokai Tenkaichi. But when I play without the stand it plays pretty cool.

Can you help me on this? Thanks in advance.


EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I´m using SwapMagic 3.6 and I am PAL

i use verbatim 8x discs and i find its best to burn them at 4x, as most ppl will say always burn at half the discs capability

Thanks, I burned NFS MostWanted again at 8x before you posted and it looks cool. I burned all my backups at 1x because I saw somewhere it was better, but it seems it isn´t. Maybe I´m gonna start burning them at 4x as you suggested

Anyway, what´s up with the vertical stand making backup games slower and with longer load times?

dont burn at 1x ... they will mess up ... burn at half the speed of the max ... just use 8x DVD-R verbs and burn at 4x ... haven't had a bad burn yet with that
