Hi Everybody
I have some AVI's that just dont want to play (Media Player,Media Player Classic,BS Player).
Checking with GSpot tells me the file is OK and I have the required codecs.
Checking with AVIcodec tells me Video is XVID Mpeg4 Supported
Audio is MPEG Layer3 Supported

If I check Proposed Codec Soltions and Tests at the bottom of GSpot

Under GSpot Vid Aud = "Failed to connect to output pin...bla bla bla ..There is no common media type between these pins"
Same msg on the 6 Video decoders and 5 audio decoders

Under MS A/V = Rendering failed. error reported by direct show
0x80040111:Class factory cannot supply requested class

I have played tons of AVI's on this system and havnt had this sort of problem and all others are still playing ok. Is there a codec out there I havnt come across or is this maybe a dud file ?

XP pro SP2

Thanks in advance for any sugestions

This is strange, but i have had times when GSpot tells me i have the codecs installed but i still can play the file. So i am going to firstly suggest you download and install FFDShow http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filte...
If that doesent do it then try installing VLC media player and playing with thats instead. If that still doesent work maybe try reinstalling your XviD codec.

More, you can try to open it with VirtualDub. Sometimes its warnings are clearer...
