I just bought a Samsung SH-S162L which I'm preetty sure it's a lightscribe drive (firmware upgraded to TS05 already). The thing is, I can't make Nero 7.0.8.2 to recognize it as a lightscribe drive. I already installed the Lightscribe service from lighscribe.com AND the one provided by Ahead itself but whenever I go to the print label program (Cover designer), it just ignores that there'a a lightscribe drive installed. There's no option to select the drive and all the lightscrie configurations are disables and/or missing.
Can anyone help me out?
I'm running win xp sp2 on a system full of resources.
You might check the thread below, they did get it to work. I seems to me, Nero only recognizes things like drive changes at certain times. I am not sure what needs to be done to get it to recheck for a configuration update, and I don't have a lightscribe, so I don't know what Nero InfoTool would give as an indication of one.
All I might suggest it doing a test on the drive or looking for some option in NeroBurning ROM that would get Nero to recheck the drive. Otherwise, a reinstall may be the only answer. If you do that, make sure you use the clean tool to remove the current install before you reinstall.
It is a little strange that when you click the arrow on the select drive window, you get a drop down box, I don't. Since I don't have a lightscribe, I would not expect to be given any options. Maybe the drive is really there, just not showing up. You might also try going through and changing some of the settings just to see if it will make Nero rescan the drive.
Short answer. If you drive is lightscribe able drive, Nero will recognize the drive as so, besides that make sure you are using lightscribe media (NOT all CDs or DVDs are lightscribe ready media). Lightscribe media normally cost more than the normal media. GOOD LUCK !

Not necessarily, I had two lightscribe drives, Nero would recognize the HP, but would not recognize my BenQ1625. Your best bet is to uninstall Nero, the use the clean tool and reinstall Nero. It needs to detect and install the driver. And yes this drive is lightscribe. With mine I ended up dl some Universal Lightscribe driver and that was what got the BenQ to work with Nero.
