well we know what assuming does, i assumed since hp made the dvd i would be good to go, wont make that mistake again.
i was trying to make an exact copy of the chronicals of narnia as a test subject to figure out wtf i'm doing. i had narnia in the dvd-rom drive and a blank disk in the writeable drive...does that make sense (does in my head but...;))?

As gwendolin noted, try a better quality disc. Since you are burning Dual Layer media, go with the best - Verbatim.
Quote: DVD-Copy on the fly
You are asking for trouble. You should burn to your hard drive first, and I'll tell you why below.
Quote: 10:32:44 PM #25 TRANSFER -25 File Reader.cpp, Line 364
Error reading data
The disc being copied had a read error. Normally such errors can be corrected automatically, but the reader needs to scan that sector again. This could be something as simple as a smudge on the disc or worse, a deep scratch. There's no way of telling. However, since you are copying on the fly, a simple and correctable read error may cause the buffer on the burner to hit 0. Once it hits zero, the burn will fail because it has not been supplied with the data to complete the write.
My suggestion is to copy to your hard drive first. If there are any read errors, then let the read process fail, not the burn process which will create coasters.
If you find your burn is failing at 50-51%, then the read error may be caused because of the layer break on a dual layer disc. Make sure your burners firmware is updated.
Good luck...
