well i had a unit before launch, that one kept freezing, sent it in, got a new unit, well i got my new one back in december i think, and just now, the thing is givin me Red Ring O Death. called support 3 times today, first time went alright, then it loaded after 20 minutes of troubleshooting, okay, cool, guy says try a game and if that doesn't work take unit to retailer, and use their cables to make sure it wasn't a cable issue. well fubar, okay, did that after it did it again. well SOB. called back support, got some british lady, who was absolutely no help, and she's like warrenty ran up on May 25, so you have to pay $129 to have us fix it. so i got upset and said somethin and she puts me back on hold, comes back and tells me she'll give me a discount, well....i tell ehr i'll think bout it, and hang up. waited about 20 minutes decided to try again, so got some dude on the line who knew a fair amount about the stuff, and he asked me how i got them to gimme a discount, so i told him, and he's like yeah that sucks i've had mine replaced(launch unit) and repaired (launch replacement) so anyway, i've decided to send it back since it won't be full price to fix, and i'm going to purchase the added warrenty after i get the console returned to me, but i hate defective products, and i understand that all stuff has it's issues, but i shouldn't have to pay for a defect. anyway. 2 360's

Are you in a hot area? I would think that the red ring means that its overheating.... that can be fixed fairly easily. Gotta remember thats a powerhouse CPU cramed into a very small space.

Guys whats the name of that fan attatchment for the X360?

At the risk of sound stupid where should one keep their xbox 360?I mean almost anywhere on an entertainment system is going to be around other eclectronics which generate heat.Its a little nuts to expect people to have to have your system on an entertainment system secluded away from any product that generates heat.I mean damn even cpu's which generate hella heat dont overheat when confined.My cpu is in a cpu desk type setup that has a tall cabinet where in my cpu goes with a door that shuts it in and i have NO PROBLEMS whatsoever. I love MS to death but to have to get the intercooler,have your system elevated,and keep it away from electronics is crazy. My system froze like crazy and it was a launch system and wasnt near any electronics or anything.So i elevated my system and it went about 8 months without freezing until recently it froze twice and now im on edge and thinking of sending the system in.I have the one year warranty so any repairs are free but going 2 weeks without my tre 60 is just too much to ask for a madden fanatic such as myself.Well, at any rate im just chucking in my ten cents...

it's the three red, which means system failure...i live in Minnesota, so not exactly 'hot' but either way, it's on it's own wire shelf a foot or so from the wall and from the ground and from the TV. so it's not a heat issue - oh well, and the nyko intercooler is really loud from what i've read. either way, i'll just have to send it in, oh well :( no tre60 for a while.

All we can really do is give it fresh air. If your warranty is up you could think about upgrading the thermal compund for the cpu and gpu.

Its damn good and will likely bing CPU temp down at least 5C.

No the coooler doesnt have speed settings.How do you apply that coolant to your xbox 360 cpu and does it void the warranty??

edit: i checked out the link and found out how to apply that sounds extensive

It involves opening your X360 taking off the CPU heatsink removing the stock crap that MS gave you and applying your own.

If your not comfortable with that then dont do it.
