I JUST DOWNLOADED GTA AND IT IS IN BLACK AND WHITE.IT IS A NTSC GAME AND I AM USING A PAL PS2.ALSO I AM USING SWAP MAGIC AND THE MEDIA IS TDK+R AND TDK_R CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME SOLVE THIS PROBLEM

Try reburning it, this time patch it 2 PAL. That's the only thing I can think of. I've never seen a post like this where a person useing a PAL tried to play a NSTC game and it came out black and white. It's usally the other way around. Try what I just said it should work.

You could just boot the game with video mode PAL (if your SwapMagic allows it). I don´t know if the screen position will get all messed up. If it does just change the screen position in the Options menu.

swap magic wont fix the prob as the problem lies with ur t.v im playin the NTSC version on a PAL machine and mine is in colour only cos im playin on a modern t.v if i play on my older t.v in the other room then its black an white, try the patch or u can always get a new scart lead not sure what its called but it will fix ur prob

When I play GTA: LCS in my (very) old TV the image is all messed up and it is also in black and white, but when I boot with the video mode set to PAL the image gets ok, but the Y position of the screen is to high. But that can be corrected in the OPTION MENU and it turns out to be just normal. But that´s what happens to me.


When I play in the living room in my recent TV I don´t have problems. I think that happens because the TV supports 50Hz and 60Hz and my old one only supports 50Hz. PAL is 50Hz and NTSC is 60Hz.

GTA:LCS is only in NTSC at the moment so if you in a PAL area you gonna get a Black and White screen...

You can either try to use the NTSC2PAL conveter which often is not very good as messes up the screen but you can repossition it in the menu.

Or you can run it on a TV that supports 60hz

The PAL video signal uses more lines of resolution, so patching from NTSC to PAL will not cause any problems with the screen.

The problems occur when patching from PAL to NTSC. The resulting screen will be low and to the right. Using PS2 PAL TO NTSC PATCHER WITH Y-FIX V1.06 BETA will center the screen. You'll never have the full picture, but for the most part, a centered screen will be good enough to play the game without any problems.
