Why is it that I select 16:9, make it the default, and yet it turns out to be 4:3 on my TV?

It is my understanding that if the original movie is in wide screen, 16.9 is the correct aspect ratio....Nero will NOT make a non widescreen movie into a widescreen movie, I have mine set to automatic.
