SNES-Station Questions - Need Help...

I've read numerous threads in this forum about SNES-Station, and well alot of them have left me a bit confused... So... here are all the things I have:
Nero 6 Ultra Edition
SNES-Station Files
10+Roms
GoodSNES
DVD+R
MagicSwap CD/DVD3.6
And there was a thread that caught my interest (being able to use DVD-R's for the Emulator instead of CD-R's). My questions are...
1) DVD-R was mentioned... I wanted to know if I can use a DVD+R instead (since its all I have... and I only have 1).
2) GoodSNES... is it really necessary? And how the heck do I use it? I launch the DOS/Command Prompt Application and it tells me to hit Enter, I do and the window closes, even when I enter one of the commands listed (like 'rename', for example). I dont fully comprehend the purpose of this program except that everywhere I search for info it is ment to rename the roms name... Even so I wouldn't know how to work with it, so I will need an explanation, regardless.
3) In the "ROMS" Folder that I specifically created to store my SNES roms in, just for SNES-Station... do the roms have to be ZIPPED? Or can they be UNZIPPED?
4) Can somebody explain to me what options have to be on/off in the Nero Burning Rom program when I enter "DVD>DVD-ROM(UDF/ISO)", Specifically? The reason I ask this is because I read two diffrent threads that explain what options need to be On/Off within that part of the menu, one in ADF (AfterDawn Forums) and the other in some other forum which I currently forgot the name of... Anyway they both gave me two diffrent explanations.
All in all, I just want to make sure I dont screw this up... Especially because of the fact my PS2 is "Picky" about reading certain CDR's (though I can confirm what CDR's it will take and which it wont... but thats another story and its a somewhat long process).
I would greatly appreciate the help...

Whether your PS2 will read DVD+R or not depends on your luck, some just like DVD-R better. But if you use DVD+R remember to change the booktype to DVD-Rom
I believe the rest of the answers can be found in the link http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/351999
Also, it's normal PS2s are picky about CD-Rs, and they wear out your laser faster. That's why people prefer DVD over CDs.

Thanks, didn't notice that thread... But its still doesn't answer some of my other questions...
Question #2... I've come across alot of Forums/Sites that would recommend I use this before I go on... I just want to know if its really necessary or not if so how do I use it?
Question #3... That guide didn't tell me if the roms have to be Zipped or Not...
Anyway, i'll follow that guide anyway, if I screw up I guess i'll have to go on and buy more DVDR's since this is my last one.
EDIT: Oh yeah, on another note, other threads/forums have suggested I mess around with the MultiSession option... Do I leave it as is? (Default is "Start MultiSession Disc"), and others have also told me to change File System to ISO 9660 only. Should I revert this option back to 9660+Joilet?

2) To be honest I've never heard of that thing, and it works fine for me without it
3) I have my roms zipped, but that's because they've always been zipped, because the emulators on my computer can play roms when they are zipped, and sometimes I have multiple files for a game, so it's just easier. I'm not sure if they need to be unzipped / if they work unzipped though...

Alright I got a couple of new Questions... After I drag and drop the ROMS folder and the 3 SNES Station files...
1) Nero keeps stopping at 50%... the error message I get is:
"Could not perform end of Disc-as-once"
"Burn Process Failed at 2.4x (3,324 KB/s)"
I burn it as a Compilation (Im guessing?) (Im under UDF/ISO)
2) I cant change the write Speed on Nero... the only write speed option I have is 2.4x and Maximum... but thats good right?
I also put No Multisession as previously suggested. Under the ISO Tab this is the information I have:
Data Mode: Mode 1 (Its mandatory? This option cant be changed)
File System: ISO 9660 only
File Name Length (ISO): Max of 31 Chars (Level 2)
Character Set (ISO): ISO 9660 (standard ISO CD-Rom)
And there are 3 more options below that where the top 2 options are "Checked" and the last/third option is not. I donno if that matters though since I never touched that.

I used to have a lot of trouble burning with Nero... what you could try is make an image file from Nero using the following steps (this is using Nero 6 - may be slightly different for other versions):
1) Do everything you've done except the burning part
2) Under "Recorder", select "Choose Recorder"
3) There should be an "Image Recorder", select that, then OK
4) Now "burn" the image, when you click on burn it'll ask you where to save to, this is the name of the image file you want to create
5) After you've created that, try burning the image with DVD Decrypter (look in my sig., there's a link in there to a tutorial on how to use DVD Decrypter)
I don't know why but Nero doesn't like one of my burners (the one on my laptop - got another external one and that works fine) so that's what I use sometimes and it works fine

Oh alright, thanks for the help again.
I got this this to work on CD-R (but I still wanna place it on DVD+R :P) just to see if I could give it a test run... so appearantly, it doesn't really matter how long the file names are... right? I mean everywhere I went there was mention of using "GoodSNES" to rename the rom files to their propper name or something like that... now that I know I dont really need it I guess...
Anyways, Thanks alot Dan. You've helped me alot.

I never really bothered with the filenames, but then, I used to stick to the standard 8.3 filename format for ages, so I never had any long filenames anyway.
I still think Nero may be the problem to your burning, but good to hear that you got it to work on a CD :)

Eventually i'll get around this Nero problem (I still haven't tried what you just told me but I will as soon as I finish downloading more roms :P).
Oh... right... How many Roms do you think I can put into the CD-R Version of SNES Station?
Also are there any other emulator options besides L1+R1? I press Select while browsing the ROMS Folder and it said something about changing discs... Whats that about?
Oh right... Whats Save SRAM/Load SRAM?
The only thing I dont like about the emulator so far is how sounds can get easily looped when ever it display's sloe of sprites or colors on-screen (that and the fact that Save States are "Bundled" meaning its impossible to delete specific save states.
EDIT: Oh yah, would the SNES version of Street Fighter Alpha 2 work on this emulator? Cause I know you needed a special plug in before to get that game to run on the original SNES9x... (this was a long time ago, I think the current SNES9x can support Alpha 2 now).

Quote: Oh... right... How many Roms do you think I can put into the CD-R Version of SNES Station?
Well, a CD's 700mb, one ROM ranges from <1mb to about 4mb, you do the maths :)

Hmm... not sure what that is, I'm guessing you can change to another disc which contains more ROMs?

Your game saves?

Yeah er I know it works with snes9x and zsnes, I doubt snes-station works though. This isn't the most developed emulator for snes, especially compared to zsnes/snes9x. That's why I don't bother with it anymore and just play snes games on my PC. It works fine even when I used it with my old PIII-450MHz (which is now my server computer) :D

-SRAM is Game Saves? Then why do they have Save States?... also Save/Load SRAM is disabled on some games (like Steet Fighter 2 for Example). But if its the same shit... then never mind.
-About the switching disc thing on the ROMS Folder, I was guessing the same thing but im not so sure.
Ah well, thanks again :P

My understanding is that save/load sram saves your in-game saves to the MC, whereas save state is like a "save anywhere" thing, so you don't have to wait until you get to a save point to save the game (for RPG).

Hey Dan, do I HAVE to get DVD Decrypter to Burn the Image to a DVD? (Im tired of downloading stuff, its why I ask, lol, plus im on 56k <.<).
My standard burner automatically knows how to burn a .ISO file when I use the "Burn as Data Disc" option. Also Nero can burn images too so can I use one of those two?
Unless the image file thats saved isn't in .ISO form... this is in direct reply to your previous post btw... (The one where you mentioned DVD Decrypter and how to burn those files as an image and whatnot).

Well you can get ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/) which is based on the same burning engine as DVD Decrypter, and it's under 1mb from memory.
The reason I mentioned DVD Decrypter (and ImgBurn which is the same when it comes to burning) is because it works for me with PS2 games every time, and I've had bad experience with Nero, but if you want you could try the other two you mentioned :)
