because the hacked version only installs on ibm based computers where the standard x86 intel mac version doesn't

Mac OSX has been designed to run only on Macs.

Installing it on a PC requieres a cracked version and even if you manage to get it running on your PC do not expect it to run as it does on Macs.

If you want OSX buy a Mac.

A cracked version is one option, but the developers version of OSX is another way to get it done. A friend of mine managed to install OSX on his Acer Laptop. It took him a few weeks of solid work, but it works quite well now. Compared to XP anyway.
OSX is designed to just work on macs, there's something on the motherboards that allows it to work, but the developers version doesn't have this. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's all illegal.

@johnodd
Do you know why the cracked version may run better on IBM computers? Or do you mean non-apple x86 computers? From what I know it shouldn't make a difference, so I'm quite curious.

Probably the same reason I have windows running on my mac- because I can. Ok, there's more to it than that.
I use Windows for games and for DVD Shrink. But for internet browsing, desktop publishing, digital media playback, I find OSX vastly awesomer. Or more awesome. Perhaps dual booting will be the way of the future and everyone will do it?

Feeling stupid? I know I am!
