Hi,

I have had a niggling problem with DVD Santa for a while now and it's driving me mad.

I have basicly been converting a large number of AVIs to DVD and a random percentage of them are not perfect. The pic quality is perfect, but on some of the conversions the audio is a couple of seconds out of sync in relation to the picture.

This problem does not happen with every conversion but it persistantly happens at random. The problem is there when played back on my pc (as converted VOBs) and therfore the problem subsequently also happens when they are burned to DVD. If the pre converted AVIs are played back on the pc they work fine.

Also the files that I have converted that dont have an audio sync problem still dont sound 100% - they are in sync but the audio is best described as a little tinny.

I dont think it's my pc as this issue has been present before and after I compleated a full HD format. I've tried un-re installing the codec and DVD Santa it's self and I have run every virus and adware scan that I can.

Any ideas from you experts out there?

Hope to hear from som of you.

Cheers,

David.

is it an AVI file that you are converting, probably with VBR sound. Check this out

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Im at work at the mo so I will have a read of that link when I get home. VBR? - not sure. From memory when the AVI's are loaded in to Santa (I normally load three or four 350mb files into the project) the audio comes up as PCM I think and there is no option to 'play' with the audio settings.

Strangely, I used to get the same audio issues with DVDLab a year ago and never managed to sort that out either. I moved on to Santa because I love the way that it is so easy to use, albeit a no thrills app.

I dont think it is a case of corrupt files, as the problem seems to be a random one - I am in the process of converting roughly 100 seperate AVIs over a period of time and some of the ones that play up on the audio side after conversion are from the same batch as others that work fine. Also given that as AVIs they play fine on the PC I am assuming that the issue lies a little deeper than that, i.e. during the conversion process.

Thanks for your help.

I'll look forward (not) to having another go at reolving this tonight when I get home. :-)

Dave.

PCM audio in a 350 mb file, i doubt it unless its a very short file. Maybe its showing what the output format will be. Well anyways try the Fix_1 and see if it helps.

On the page that i sent you a link to go to it says
"sound that was in-sync in the original .AVI which becomes out-of-sync if the .AVI is converted into a MPEG movie"
I have never had this problem because i dont convert much into DvD format, but it seems to fit your problem.

OK - Thanks.

Yeah, the PCM is the output source - sorry I should have explained that a little better.
